installing lowering springs

I cant seem to figure out how to take the stock spring off. Theres is a bolt that I think is welded that is part of the sway bar, with is attached to the shock. I need to take the shock off to get my spring compressors on. Do I need to remove the sway bar from the shock? If not, should I worry about bending/ twisting the sway bar when taking off the shock? It is physically impossible to get the springs off without removing the shock because my spring compressors are too long. They hit the fender at the top of the wheel well before I can compress the spring enough to get it off.

ok I got it figured out. Just in case anybody ran into the same issue-- I figured out you must raise the wheel mount with a second jack to relieve the tension in the bolt that I stuggled with. Once you do that, it should be a breeze... Never felt stupider in my life... Anyways I got them on. Now off to les schwab to get a wheel alignment...

...duude u have to take the strut assembly off, and it willd be alot easier and u have to compress the spring in the middle somewhere, or do it the way u did. pretty dangerous.

Also, i have to put u in the funniest quotes thread.

I did what you said to do-- before you posted anything. I didn't do anything stupid or dangerous.

Maybe i mis read something, but U shudnt have tackled a job that u didnt have much knowldge of, especially with a suspension spring, it can be dangerous.

By ur second post, It still doesnt sound like u did it the completely correct way.

Not being an ass, im just concerned about ur safety and knowledge as a fellow mazda owner ;)

but its possible to take the strut spring assembly completely off, compress the spring, and then that bolt will come off.
