Okay, I'm screwed. I tried to wire everything like you said, I grounded it to the screw, tapped into the green wire, and even found a good spot for the switch...so I turn my car on, and not only do my dash lights not work, but I now have a CEL!!!! AAAHHHHRRRRRRRGGGGGGG. I knew I shouldn't try anything myself. Now what?? The only thing I can think of is that I used a different method of splicing the power. I have a small connector with 2 openings, where you put both wires and clamp down. A metal piece cuts through the covering of both wires and connects them. Well yeah, I need help!!!

Make sure the three plugs going to the gauge cluster itself are plugged in firmly. If one isn't plugged in all the way, the backlighting will still come on but will not let the idiot lights work.

You have to reset your ECU to get the CEL to go off. Make sure all the connections are good, especially the ones going into the indiglos, then try a different grounding point.
To reset your ecu, disconnect the negatice terminal for like 5 minutes then reconnect it, the CEL will go off, i promise

PS mine went out last night, but not just one of them, ALL 3 of them, so i think there must be a bad connnection in mine, because 3 of them don't burn out at the same time...

idiot lights? are you refering to the indiglos? could tht be what happened to mine, one came loose?

yeah, now i'm really ******. When i was trying to shear the covering off the green/black wire for power I cut the damn thing. uuggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea where else to ground also. Where'd you ground?

So you cut through the wire? no big deal.
Juststrip the ends, and solder them back together, and wrap some electrical tape around them. If you can;t solder, go to the hardware store, and get some crimps, and twist the wires together, slide the crimp over it, and crimp it all together.
I grounded mine in the same harness as the power one. The all black wire is always going to be the ground
Don't worry, you're not as screwed as you think

Done...I twisted the end of the green and the red power wire together, then used a crip to crimp all three together. Reset the ECU. Kept the same grounding point. Finally everything worked. Thank GOD!!! Thanks you guys for all your help. I really appreciate it.

Hey guys,
I'm going to do this install myself this weekend. Thanks for all the tips! I ordered 2 sets of gauges from procarparts.com, in case i didn't like one or the other ... I think i'm going with the ones you guys have.

On question tho. I have 3 male connectors that go from the gauges, and then the wiring harness. The wiring harness part has 4 female connectors ... is one just unused?

extremely nice setup... think its possible to cut a hole for the low on gas light? or would that kill the gauges wire? coz i alawys use my gas until the light comes on.. would be bad if i dun have one

Vicocola - Yes, you can cut a hole in it. Although I cut the slit from the hole over the gas light, so I didn't want to bore another hole. Just make sure whenever you cut the gauges, don't cut into any of the gray. It's possible to cut and fit the gauges without cutting into the electrical paths (gray).

Stepson - That extra connector will just hang. I use the first three closest to the black box, and left the last one just chillen in the back.

Guys, just BE CAREFUL. Don't **** with the needles. I had to be very patient and it took me many tries before I got them on. If you don't think they'll fit without force, cut some more. You can't see the slits at all at night, and only a little during the day, as long as the slits are clean. Use a very sharp razorblade or exacto knife.
