In-Dash DVD Player

Hi everyone,

I currently own a Mazda 323-P and am considering getting an in-dash dvd player for it. Having searched the internet for the best model, I have brought my search down to two choices:

- Pioneer AVH-P5900DVD - best price I can find is 500

or

- Kenwood KVT-627 - best price I can find is 370

For some reason, however, I am swaying towards the Pioneer. I think this is because it comes iPod ready whereas extra cables need to be bought along with the Kenwood. The Pioneer also looks seems to look a lot better and have a better interface.

I'm not sure which one to choose, and if anyone could give me some advice then that would be great.

Pioneer for sure.... I have owned them all and the Pioneers are the best even the low end model pioneer is better then Kenwood. In my own opinion

Thanks for the reply. Would you say they just function better? Are easier to use?

Another problem I have with installing the Pioneer is if it would fit in my dash properly. Its difficult to explain, but the radio is actually underneath the air conditioning controls. Heres a picture of the inside of the car and I've marked where the radio is;

Do you think the Pioneer will be able to come out far enough so it can clear the dash above?

thats hard to say with out seeing it. My pioneer has the option to have the screen setback, or regular mode. With out the set back the screen is out about 1 1/2 inch, then flips up. I dont know if this makes sense. So what I am trying to say is it might clear. Also if you install it on the bottom you might have more clearence.

Have you previously owned the AVH-P5900 before?

It should clear the dash if the screen is able to come out 2 or 3 inches I guess.

No, not that model... but I have the avh-p5700dvd right now in my 3 and in my p5 I had the avh-p6600dvd. They both worked the same for me.

I've just measured it up and it seems that the sceen of the Pioneer AVH-P5900 will have to come out about 3 - 3.5 inches to clear the dash properly.

Do you think it will be able to do this?

I would try to see if u could relocate the climate controls down to where the radio is now and then mount the pioneer up top..Being done custom stuff like that in mustangs and other car..it is possible....it's a matter of loosing the wires (untapeing)and drive cables and relocating to a lower point which is alot better that trying to raise to a higher point beuz extending is a PITA..good luck just my 2cents
