well tonight i came driving home and went into a turn doing the speedlimit, and the road was a little icy and wet. my tires did not grip, and i came head on with the curb. my left front tire was pointing right, and hit it the curb with a loud bang noise. i had undoubtadly hit and jumped the curb........

my stomach sank and tears began to flow. not my baby i thought. i got out and assed the dammage of what i could see, and the tire was flush up against the wheel well. i know that i had really messed up. my other wheel was just fine, and i popped the hood to make sure the CAI wasnt squished, and the engine bay and block were fine. both were fine thank the Lord. i knew i had to get the car off of the curb so i got in and put it in reverse to back out. CRUNCH SCREECH CACHUNK. by this point i was balling. call me a crybaby but this is my first car i paid for, my livelyhood, my ego and pride in this well engineered machine. and when you spend all that money it really hurts. this car is my joy, when i am sad i go drive.

i called my parents and they came for moral support, the cops and finally the tow truck. i was completely flipping out about cost, insurance debt all those things...... the tow guy got the car up on the truck and i took my flashlight to see what i did....... i bent the armeteur that holds the wheel on, so it kinda pushed it back.

i am so depressed right now i dont know what to do. hopefully the shop will tell me what is wrong and how much it will cost. the only problem is that i know i'll have to claim it and i have a $1000 deductable, and they cut my hours at work. hopefully though i will be able to start my old job soon. :( i thank God that i am not hurt, and that i didnt hit anybody else. everyone be careful out there, our cars kick alot of ass, but unfortuneatly ice and water dont help with v rated tires. it also would have helped if i used the break a bit sooner or slowed down quicker before hand. ah well such is black ice i guess........

i'm just freaking out right now, but everyone take care. i will post updates on the progress....... Peace

Man, I am sorry to hear that. (sad2) We're here for you bro.

Sorry to hear about your ride , as you said it's fortunate nobody was hurt... it doesn't help you now, but I guess you learned a tough lesson that 'speed limits' apply to dry roads, not icy/wet conditions. Live and learn....

Sorry to hear about that man! :( I feel for ya, I did the same thing to my miata a couple years ago, only it was because the city decided to dump gravel on a corner in the middle of the spring. I slid on the gravel into the curb... The only difference between ur accident and mine is that i hit front and back :'(

Good luck tho man!

hey, I was reading, I did the exact same thing more or less...bending my control arm that holds the wheel and stuff.....I wasn't so stoked at the time aswell...the cost was a lil :S too

Sorry to hear about your little mishap Pro5.....but it will be okay....they will fix up your baby just as good as new......

i feel his pain .. trust me .. i had my first import back in 1996 whe i had my 1987 toyota MR2 and man I had the fastest car in school and i went every where in my baby untill friday the 13th (of all days) and i came home around 9:00pm and it was raining .. and the fog was pretty heavy well when i came around a sharp corner i had a 1400 pound morgan Clydesdale horse running at me .. and I had no were to go .. I rammed his front legs and he chest came down on the windshield and he rolled over the entire car and the impact was so strong it blew all 4 tires and dug the wheels into the pavement the entire body ws restign on the ground because he shattered all four strust and flattened the springs too .. it took them 6 hours to get me out of the car and when i got out i fellt omy knees and cried for what seemed like hours .. that was my baby and it was all caused from the owners wife cheating on her husband and he ransacked there house and let all of the horses out . it was all paid for and i got another Mr2 but ill never forget the feeling like i lost a relitive when i lost my car it truley sucks so pro5 .. im with ya man ..

oh my Lord!

and i thought i had it bad? my goodness, that makes ME want to cry! gee whiz.....

DAMMAGE REPORT

well here it is, the thing we all have been waiting for.....

this is apparantly what i broke....
control arm
bearing
wheel is slightly bent
tire
buckle on the sway bar
slight break in the fender
splash guard
rocker panel

and it will cost all of $2650

and since i have to pay a grand for my deductable........
i need a job with more hours! after i write this i am going to go out and hit the pavement.

rental car!

i have a rental car now! yippee!

my insurance is paying for the rental car now! im glad i pay for that! i was supposed to get a grand am, but the dude who prepared the car went to pick up somebody else, and he took the keys! so the guy i was talking to said he bring around the grand prix.... i said GRAND PRIX???? he upgraded my rental at no additional charge! SAWEEEEEEEEET!

i have to say..... DAMN THAT THING KICKS ASS! it hadles relatively well for an over sized piggy wiggy! i took a short drive tonight and had a little fun... nothing too adventurous. now i dont like big cars all that much but man, i would consider a grand prix, i cant belieive what a GTP would be like! it sort of fills the gap since my car is kaputtnick right now. but i have a ride to work, and gee..... I CAN PIMP the ladies now! HA HA!

yo that really sux. paying alomst 3 grand to fix your brand new car. When i first read you post i hoped that you were as lucky as my freind. he did what you did but the damage wasn't to bad. i think he paid 300 to fix it. oh well what ever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. and don't worry about crying. it's ok we all do it. lol
