So I gave away my much loved Protege5 back in March to a family that did not have a car and needed one. As a result, I would like to replace it with a manual Whitewater Pearl Mazda5, but I am having trouble finding one close to home. I found a by-owner '07 5 Touring in Southern Cal, but that's like 2,500 miles away (I've called several times, but have not heard back from the owner), and the only other one I found was a sport model (no rear spoiler or side skirts) in Utah. Unfortunately the '08's don't come in Crystal White Pearl with the manual transmission, at least not in the U.S. of A. they don't

!! Bottom line, does anyone have a manual 5 they want to sell, give away, or do you know of one in your area for sale? Better yet does anyone know the guys at Car and Driver, I would love the opportunity to purchase the "Boss Wagon, a.k.a Mazdaspeed5," when they are through with it. Thanks for reading my plea, and any help would be appreciated.

I just saw that exact car today in a Kroger parking lot in Durham NC.

As a matter of fact, I've seen this particular car there at least once before, so perhaps it belongs to someone who works there. I'll keep an eye out next time I go in there - probably when I get paid again this Friday!(cabpatch)

Anyhow, I always notice the new-style taillights on the 5, and I parked next to it when went in to do some shopping for lunch supplies back in the office. It struck me as to how dirty and unkept it was (unusual for 5's around here) and I was drawn to look inside to see how the sand interior colour held up compared to my car's stolid black... and lo and behold I noted it was a stick shift like mine.
Moonroof, foglights and a few other touches indicated to me that the car was a Touring, not a sport with options.
Dealer identification on the rear was from Sport-Durst Mazda here in Durham. I don't know if it would be worth checking with them to see how they obtained this car intentionally or if they just happened to get one of the rare manual trans '08 Touring models....

Good luck in your search(cheers2)

Not sure how much this helps, but I've seen the most up-to-date inventories from all over the nation in autotrader.com (new and used, updated much earlier than in the mazdausa website). They actually already have the 2009s inventories up.

If you are willing to drive some miles there should be something there...

If you buy me an 08, I might consider giving you my 07 :D

sorry to hear about your bad luck so far... good luck with your search.. one is bound to turn up because this area has a decent amount of white 5's... albeit perhaps not 5MT
