I have found the noise

Hey guys, one day i was driving and the car all of a sudden started making a really deep drone noise. So I get home pop the hood and run some seafoam through her. The was white smoke coming out of the front. So I took off the exhaust guards to find this

Is this coverd under my 80k warranty, right now I am at 79,400. Whats that part called also, thanks

how the hell did u get a hole in the catalytic converter? impossible that sumthing hit there.. the fan is rite in front of it.. if sumthing hit there ur fan must b broken too o_o

btw i dont think its warranty... so basicly ull have to put a new header... i smell OBX .. and wtfff im still lookn at those pic... it looks like sumthing blew out of there it looks so burned ...

Why wouldn't that be waranty? That's the cat, which should be under warranty for a pretty good while. What year is your car? I'd at least take it in, because that's ridiculous.

Awsome yeh I was expecting for it to be under warranty. Ill take it in today. Like I said, it just all of a sudden started making noise while I was on the highway

i bet that the stealership will find sum way to blame it on you.. not tryn to ruin ur hopes but u no.. they always do that .. but ya take a shot try to bring it in and talk them out.. just put back the heatshield b4 u drive it .. in case thats sumthing rly come out of there and break ur fan.. =/ who knows wat caused that huge hole.. who knows !

Maybe you have some kind of blockage in your exhaust system.

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps a piece of road debris or a rock sticking up on an uneven road crushed a section of your exhaust and the resulting spike in pressure in the upstream exhaust blew open the weakest weld or most rusted through part.

I suppose it could also happen if there was a huge rust patch there and it just corroded through. Is there much rust nearby in the engine compartment? The pipe coming off to the left in the top picture looks like it might be fairly rusty.

Okay just came back from the dealership, they said they have to called mazda to get it confirmied because the part is like 600 buxs plus labor, wow. So they are gonna call me etheir today or tommorw, he said that if I go over 80k miles then the warranty will be void, and right now im at 79600 so this is pretty good timing. Lol, I hope they fix this.

they tried to blame me for the EGR valve ......... they tried to fool me by sayin its bcos of usage just like the tires lool then i just sed if thats how u c things.. i guess warranty wont b available for long since everything problem on a car is due to usage.. -.-
