I brok-ed my car

I went sideways into a curb, two wheels are ruined as is the front suspension. Thank goodness for insurance ;) (yes)

Too fast. The turn goes uphill, then at the apex, starts back downhill... needless to say I forgot that the median was a curb... my suspension unloaded and I lost traction at the apex of the corner and started going sideways. I hit the curb HARD.

Believe me though, I'm more mad at myself than anything else. It was very stupid.

Yeah, my rental car is a brand new pontiac grand prix, I can't complain too much... Although i miss my baby... only girl who knows how to treat me right.

The only thing hurt was my ego... I was attempting to catch up to my friend's brand new mazda 3... he rolled up next to me after the accident and first thing out of his mouth was "so I thought the handling on this car was better than mine..." (needless to say, he didn't try racing through the corner like me, and he almost got a black eye for saying that.)

Consider yourself lucky like Ken said that you did not hit anyone. Wheels and ego's can be replaced, people can't. Anyways chalk one up for my Mazda 3.

question is.. how fast was the 3 going when he went thru the same corner?

Glad you are ok and just the car is 'Brok-Ed'...

Ken's completely right, I am lucky I didn't hurt anyone. The three didn't "take the corner"... he was at the stoped when it turned green and I was a way's behind him catching up... thought i'd be my big break to pass him (we tend to go a bit "days of thunder" on the way home from work once in a while)... needless to say, I didn't make the corner.

Chalk one up for the 3? Not really.

Subtract one for the MSP? Yes. (braindead

Not sure yet, I'm supposed to get a call later today... although, I have a feeling that it's going to be a lot, the autobody place called me to confirm the suspension on the car was actually stock (which it is). Hmmmm....

Sorry to hear about your car. What road were you on, i grew up in Carol Stream and moved up north awhile ago. wanted to see if i remember the road.

It's true; cars can be replaced but lives cannot. Still, though, I know it sucks. Sorry to hear about it - hope it all works out for you in the end.

It actually happened in Westmont... Where in the stream did you grow up? I take it you went to GBN... (ugh)

Where in westmont? im trying to make a map of cool roads to hit up, and make like one long 'togue' route.

that sucks about the car but at least its fixable. mazda3 handling is not close to the MSP, at least i didnt think so. MSP feels very neutral.

NO, mazda 3 handling is not near msp handling, as i can attest. the 3 is more p5-like. the avg. ive seen as far as tests of it is around .84g on the skid padand about 65mph through the slalom. the msp is closer to .90g and 70mph. i wouldnt base it solely on these numbers, but they do give you a good indication.
