How well do Miata rims fit?

I saw a member on the boards with Miata rims on his 3rd gen Protege. How well do they fit? Do they make for a poor offset? Is there a particular year/generation I should be shopping for?

What company did you buy your body kit from? It looks similar to one I'm thinking about purchasing from Erebuni...

yes they do. :) they rub sometimes over big bumps, but i have slightly bigger tires then came with them. stock they came with like 205/45/r16 i put 205/50/r16 to fill the gap alittle better.

Awesome, thats news to my ears : ) Are those the 17 inch rims?

I have the 04 MSM RacingHarts... They fit perfect.. no problems thus far.

miata wheels are 4-lug, protege ES, msp, mp3, and protege5 wheels are 5-lug. only dx and lx proteges are 4-lug hubs.

ahh..that too. I didnt notice he had an ES.
I just saw the 4-lugs in his AV...

The 3rd gen (NC) Miata wheels have 5-lugs.

Look forward to seeing what the offsets are. I like both the 16 and 17 inchers in pics I've seen. Could do either depending on weight. I hope a lot of them are dumped on the marketplace by (loser) owners looking for more *bling*.

Early 3rd gens were all 4 lug, including ES.

Miata wheels have the correct offset for Proteges.

I've got '97 Miata 14" alloys for my race tires. The picture in my sig shows those on my Pro.

Does anybody know if the NC wheels have the same bolt pattern as the Pros? Afterall, just because they're 5-lug, doesn't mean they fit.

yes, you are correct. they didn't change over to 5-lug till the 2001 m.y. when there was a slight redesign of the headlights and displacement was upped to 2.0. most proteges on this site are 2001+, so i didn't want people thinking they can slap on any old miata wheel on any old protege.

Fair enough, but the original poster has an '00 ES, so to answer his question, yep, Miata wheels fit fine! :D

All recent (last 10 years?) 5-lug Mazdas I know of use the 114.3mm x 5 pattern.

For example, several 5-lug people have used the featherweight 15-inch Millenia wheels for AutoX as well as 17-inch Mazda3 wheels with this pattern. (I think someone even squeezed 18 inch RX-8 wheels in?) So I was just assuming that NC wheels will continue the trend.

As far as I know, Acura/Honda (at least the RSX wheels-- those are light and fit) also uses this bolt pattern and I think Toyota/Lexus does as well (IS300 wheels are pretty nice). I looked into Subie Impreza wheels because they're light and good-looking... they all seem to be 100mm x 5.

I heard that you have to bore out the center hole in order to make the subie wheels fit though..
