How-To: LED Interior / Reverse / Licence plate lights

yeah where are the photos of the LED license bulbs?:) I DO also wonder how red would look w/ the already red interior theme.

so I got my LEDs in this week and installed them all yesterday...except for the Map Lights...what gives?!

As your directions say, I simply tried pulling out the plastic housing from the edge and it felt like it was going to crack into pieces...I tried using a screwdriver with a soft cloth and I wasn't getting anywhere...I checked the manual and it said"

"Due to the complexity of this procedure please see your Mazda dealer to get ripped off like a common fool"

Great. The last thing I want to do it break something stupid like this.

Anyone else have any luck with the map lights? All the other installs were easy as turning on the radio, (except for the glovebox which I'm skipping all together).

Any advice here would be appreciated.

Mine was a little tough too, but there snapped in there pretty good. So they were taken off exactly as mentioned in the intstructions.

how would red bulbs work for the interior? blue seems harsh, white boring, and red matches the theme they already have going on with the lighting?

I just put in red bulbs they look sweet but they are dimmer than stock. I put in a blue dome and red reading lights. the blue is overpowering but the red look so damn sweet. going to leave it for a while but will probably swap to blue in the future

I used a screwdriver and reached deep and fiddle around till I felt the clasp. then when you find it get in between it and the bracket then push it just pops down.

Has anyone out there modified the LED in the guage clusters to make them brighter and light up the circle brighter??? I am desperate to find this done somewhere and or if there is a thread about it. Anyone ever tried it? I think making the whole circle ring light up blue would rock!

I think I read on the other forum that it has been done.. but it was a complete and utter PITA!!!! And the guy that did it said he would never ever do it again.. even if the bulbs burned out lol. Much to much work for what its worth.

to anybody that has ddone this mod.. put some pics up

and if anybody got red LED's .. i would like to see it cause im deciding wether i get thattt..

and to the originall poster.. jam asian???

does this void the warrenty.

I have donet his mod. As a matter of fact I just did it yesterday, I drive a MS3 so my taillights are all LEDS already, so I don't have pictures for that.

My Internal lights I turned into amber color, I am actually going to buy a set of greens.

Also, mine aren't as bright as his, simply due to the fact that he is using the WLED-x6 LED bulb instead of the ones he tells us to get (WLED-x5 LED Wide Angle LED bulb), shame on him!!

I will have to wait till night time and take pictures, personally I am avoiding the whole rice look and the amber color provides a nice accent to the car, but many people don't notice it as soon as they see it.

It was very easy, the instructions he gave were excellent, too.

I also noticed that the overhead front light and the glove box light maybe stuck in there a little bit so you may have to pull on it some. i believe this is due to the fact that those lights get pretty god damn hot and so the metal expands into the plastic.

Sorry if I repeated anything, I haven't read any of the posts in this thread other than the last one.

I noticed that too! He says WLED-x5 but when he shows the bulb they are WLED-x6!!!! Glad to know you noticed that the brighter would be the x6 because I have been holding off on ordering these for weeks because I wanted to make sure I got the right bulbs. I will be ordering the x6 then for sure!

Anyone tried buying the BRIGHT WHITE or COOL WHITE color for interior? I have done blue things before and it usually is pretty dark inside, but brigth ass white lights up the interior much better! I was just wondering because even tho blue or red looks SICK, I would prefer white if it's brighter

I've used the red lights for the map lights and its very dim but creates a great effect. I put a blue light in the back dome light and it helped to balance it out.

I don't know the difference between them, but I know in normal light bulbs BRIGHT WHITE is slightly BLUISH and SOFT WHITE is more closer to the normal average bulbs we use. So I guess SOFT WHITE is closer to a normal white color.

Yes, I don't really know the difference, but I am thinkin about ordering a few other lightbulbs from the LED store and perhaps posting a second section on LEDS that will work with our car, but will provide a more bright or stronger look. I will try other colors and post pictures, for now though I will grab some amber x-5 WIDE LEDS (the ones he says to buy, but he did not post pictures of) pictures and post them.

I think the point of the wide ones are to not project forward like the other ones, but to cover a lot of area so it reflects well off the lense of the light socket. So maybe I too should buy some x6 and x5

Just took the leap guys and finally bought my lights. I barely drive at night so I probably don't really need all of these but I spent like %50 on all these LEDs so hopefully they look good!

Oh yeah and I HATE the orange bulb in the rear turn signal, so I bought some 7440 15 led lights that will glow amber to light up when I turn but look clear and not make the reflector bowl look orange all the time!

As soon as they arrive I will post my pics! Seems like this 3 page thread has only 2 people who posted pics, so I will do that for everyone AND be posting the ones for the rear license plate lights as well.

Actually, i put in the wide x5s and they dont spread very well. specifically they are not sticking out far enough to project, so the x6s are better.

good to know now! I actually said fawk it and just went with the x6 anyways. They should arrive whenever the company sends them, not even sure where they come from but its the same company as on page 1 of this thread. I'll make sure to post pics when I get them installed

I'd really like to see the red interior LED's. This sounds like a great "first mod" project for me to get into for my car, and I really want to try it out. I'm at a toss up between colors though. Bright White would be great to be able to see more clearly, but the red would look impressive and help preserve night vision.

So if anyone has pics of either of those two colors, be a pal, and post them ;)
