How to increase your MPG buy almost 2

I have been getting 24-26 consistently. (Even on the old car.) I have always put in 93 octane, and usually it is from Exxon, BP, or Shell.

^interesting thread...

do you have figure wind resistance in the equation somewhere? i mean, wind aint gonna blow the same throughout a tank of gas.

i'm gonna switch to one of the top tier's myself, see what results I get

No, no Jack... According to GSR no matter what you will get definite and accurate digits...(jerkit)

I'm interested in your results.

Will post them up in a couple of weeks. I just filled up this morning at WaWa. I have been averaging 25 to 27mpg with an atx and 80% highway and 20% city driving....of course there is some spirited driving mixed into both. :)

I average 28-29 w/ spirited driving myself right now. (in an MSP though)

Just wanted to keep this straight since we are talking about different cars.

MSP - 28-29
MS3 - 24-26

Did I read that someone got 30 (I am assuming you mean for a whole tank...not a dozen miles) out of MS3?

36. Approximately a 1/4 tank. 80 miles 1 way. Again, that was trip computer mileage. I was using hypermileage techniques just to see what the results were. I was impressed. Next time I make the trip I'll do some math and see what I come up with along with the trip computer.

gas stations byu form each other.
out here in la long beach area where the stations are. Sometimes they buy arco also or arco buys. it all depends on things. Like where the tanks are to the stations and other.
When my mom worked for beacon. they had onvoices for other stations. but then had payments ot other companies also.
Drandpsa worked out in the refineersi and noticed it also! but chevron irt suposed to of added there techron to the delivery truck was my understadning or ot the tanks! btu not at chevron itself!
and then you have staiotns with teh cheap gas have been heard to use w little bit of water in the tanks!!

But things could have changed in teh last 10 years.

on trips where i drive only on the highway I have been seeing 30-35 mpg, if you mix in city driving that drops to mid to upper 20s. (and thats only lowly citgo gasoline!)

Oh...I have got around 34 on highway trips of distances from 50 - 75 miles. It is the normal city driving I do that drops it into the low twenties.

I was thinking for a whole tank you got 36 doing mixed driving (not all highway) ..that would be impressive.

It was mixed driving. I was keeping it in 6th at 35 MPH, coasting to lights, and stops, coasting down hills, ect. I even went through a drivethru, lol

they don't have Wawa down here but I see the when I go to pennsylvania for christmas

wawa hoagies are possibly the best invention ever... i miss them when i travel away from the east coast for long periods of time

although apparently their gas is less than satisfactory lol

wawa equals sheetz here on the east cost.

i used to use cheap gas and at most would get 28 in my LX, then switched to chevron with techron when they opened a new station on my way to work, started getting 33 mPG everytime...

i dont know what these two lovebirds got going on, but i calculate miles driven by gallons purchased to get my result. that gives me a figure for the whole tank i.e. today 300 miles / 13.8g = 21.7 is my average for this tank. however, for a figure at any given time, dont we get that with the current on the trip computer?

It's 2mpg optimistic in my travels.

(iagree) Mine is always 2~3 mpg optimistic, and I have never seen it display (avg. mpg) more than 27. >_<
