well here is how they came out im pumped...

nice job. Are the trips red by default in the later years?

since mine was green, I was able to overwhelm it with the blue lighting and it looks blue.

Alright!

The first thing I got to say is MEGGA thanks to the writer of this here "how to". I originally had black guages with green number (standard 02 LX cluster) When installingWhite facce guages I snapped the temp needle :( its pretty damn vital so I needed to get a new clusterto fix this. I bought a cluster off ebay for 100$ shipped (I beleve it came out of a 03 P5). It had what I thought were white faces with green text, but lucky for me it is actually Silver faces with Orange numbers :) (Ive used Silver as the highlight color in my interier)

Ill snap some pics in a bit for you (day time pics will have to wait untill tomorow.

I thought that because I used this how to in order to swap the new guages into my original cluster that my ODO would be green. When they showed up and were orange I assumed that I would have orange numbers with a green ODO,

However

After swaping over the guages and orange LED's, when it lit up the ODO has an orange hue to it with black numbers (As aposed Green, or I beleve orange numbers as the ODO in the cluster the guages came out of is, Im not sure, I beleve that it like that)

Checkem out....

As you can see the ODO has an orange hue with no green tint at all, they look pretty sick, and they look tight in the day also, Ill post pics tomorow.

Sry to necro this topic...but did anyone ever post a how-to or whatever for a DX to ES swap?
I bought a ES cluster (with tach, without keyless) and its not recieving a signal. I saw a couple replies that said something along those lines, but no remedies

doesn't the calibration of the speedo and tach get messed up if you take off the needles? i thought i read this somewhere. might be wrong though.

The calibration of the ODO is in connection to the circuit board for the gage cluster.

The ODO doesnt get removed from the circuit board, and it retains the mileage of the car.

In order to keep the ODO legit, you remove the guages you want out of your second cluster and imput them into your original cluster with the original ODO, so ecentally you got New guage faces & the same old ODO.

NEVER take off the needles, unless your looking for trouble. Remove the guage unit as a whole (Speedo, tack, temp & gas guage) they come out EXTREAMLY easy.

I took off the speedo, and no problem. I left the clear plastic cover on, and with my GPS I calibrated it (read: I took it off and put it back on at the correct speed. You'll find that it has different accuracy over different parts of the speed range.

I wish that I had seen this before. I had to replace my cluster because I fried one of the door relays when hooking up some side dash lights. I have added about 8 leds for diff. things.

They are as follows from left to right:

red led for fog lights on/off
blue led for dome light on/off
green led for a/c on/off
red led for alarm
yellow led for rpm shift light
blue led for sunroof open/close
green led for hood open/close
red led for trunk open/close

I also added the Dave B Rings, painted the center line on the needle caps, added auto meter sticker, added japanese/chinese masda stickers and flying M mazda sticker.

Here it is installed in the car.

The 2 swithces are for brake lights (red) and reverse lights (blue) on/off

BUMP for great write up . anyone else try this and get it done. i am not good at this stuff so i am kinda nervous. i just aquired a MSP gauge set up and it has 70XXX miles on it but my es only has 40*** if that.

I replaced all my lighting with blue LEDs. I was planning on changing the icons and stuff, but my ghetto version plans didn't work out, too much light bled through, and it would have been too much work to create an entire new shield.

any pics?

I'm thinking of changing up the buttfugly orange color scheme in my P5, I'd like to see some different set-ups, maybe with white/blue/+or red. thanks for any input.
