How-to: DIY Custom MSP FMIC

Sorry for the posting frenzy . . .

I was just looking at the pics again. Would it be possible to tip the top of the intercooler toward the front of the car and install the IC at a bit of a slant? Seems like you could run a larger intercooler that way (maybe 8 or 9" tall?)- but it wouldn't be a straight shot through the IC core. Don't know if that would matter or not.

I just put in my IC which is 28x6x3.5 overall. It is a pretty tight fit. To slant it, you'd need to lose the power steering line or something. Look at this photo, it is the piping in between the bumper core and the back of the IC. http://www.khaosman.com/gallery/turbo2/DSC09377?full=1

Taller wouldn't work. The bumper is a tight fit as is. You'd have to do some extreme hacking but maybe if it was tilted it would work okay. Maybe you could cut away the bottom half of the bumper support and gain an extra inch or so. Good luck cutting that, bring your plasma cutter :D

It'd be a lot of work. I'd just invest in a nice intercooler that fits!

7" is the max height without cutting something major. If nothing else maybe you could slot the bumper(steel bumper, not cosmetic bumper) for the fmic. If i had to do it again i'd go with a 3" or thicker fmic.

Thanks for the info . . .

will stick with 7", what about going a bit wider with it, say 34-36" total width.

i used a 8 inch cooler cut bump suport in galf had to get rid of my fogs no like i used them..

Does anyone have a list of all the bends needed? If not then I can probably make my own by looking at the original post. Also a good size is 28 x 7 x 2.5-3.5?
