How safe is the MSP?

Let me chime in here.. The Nissan I was in totally crumbled in the side impact I was in. Not crumble in a good way, either. Crumbling as in the door being jammed in to my ribs along with the pillar bending in pinning me in the car and knocking me out while doing so.

The Mazda wrecks I have seen here have all shown to me that the Protege will handle a wreck, regardless of origin, MUCH Better than that Nissan did. EVen in the same circumstances, I'm confident that my passenger would not go through the s*** I had to.

I got hit head on at about 45 miles an hour, totalled the car, and I walked away with a slight so to say rug burn on my arm from the airbag. I wasnt even wearing a seatbelt. Walked out of the car, and never felt a thing since that day which has been about 2 months ago.

I have to give it to Mazda on that one, the built one hell of a safe car, I really do believe that I should not have walked out of that with what I did, it was way to violent.

Do you think God was trying to tell you something. I'm glad you made it through head is always a harsh wreck to go through.

The superb handling and braking power of the MSP has saved my ass on many occasions. And I'm not talking about myself pushing the car too far. I'm talking about people around me doing stupid s*** while driving, like talking on a cell phone while eating and reading a map. Or the person reading a book on the freeway. Or the b**** putting on eyeliner in the morning on the way to work. When those people just pull out in frount of you, cut you off, or randomly drift into your lane because they're NOT ******* PAYING ATTENTION, having a car like the MSP is a godsend.

The MSP has phenomenal at the limit emergency handling. Its slalom speed is indicative of this.

Also, the MSP's chasis is extremely rigid. And I mean EXTREMELY RIGID.

Yep its safe. ;)

i rolled my MSP 12-15 times down a 350 foot ravine.

this car is safe........because i'm typing this.

I crawled out of my upside-down MSP without even a scratch. A girl at the scene of the crash says, "Wow that car rolled over so easily. I'd never buy one of those." I said, I just came out of that car without a scratch and the first thing I do is go buy the same exact car.

In hind-sight, I should have said, "If you think that rolled over easily, you should try flipping an SUV. Now that's easy!"

OK i'm done.

I rolled three times and me and my girlfriend walked away with just scratches from the winshield breaking. This car does have a rigid frame, but I have never heard of an accident where the airbags deployed (and there have been some pretty bad ones). All of us who have wrecked are going to tell you driving safe is the main thing. Even though this car has superb handling, it has its limit and will flip over. I liked it enough to buy another one instead of an STI or EVO though:)

Since it is a Protege Chasis and basically is a protege its one of the safest in its class. Check consumer report...they love this car!
