How rare are the MS6's really?

They were supposed to make about 5,000 for North America...that is total between 2006 and 2007 models.

Safe to say that's not even close. Last summer, the dealer where I went was loaded with Speed 6s. Even now that have 5 07s on the lot for sale. They went overboard, and that's why they outsupplied the demand, and the 06s were being unloaded for insane prices, even in the summer of 06 when I got mine. No official numbers, but I'd say when all is said and done, there may be have been somewhere along the lines of 12-13000 or more Speed 6s total for 06-07, possible more. I think 06 alone might be close to 10000. Just too many around, and too many at dealerships for there to only be 5000, even just for 2006.

Now the 2004 Golf R32 (one year only), that had a true 5000, and I see the Speed 6 far too often compared to one of them. The 07 Speed 3 is definitely in lower volume then the Speed 6 currently is, but perhaps by the time the 08s come out, we'll start seeing them. I'd imagine the 08 Speed 3 will be in much higher volume. Can't wait to eventually see some real numbers on both these cars when all is said and done. :)

Mazda did the same with the MSP though. They had an initial run of like 1000 but then started pumping them out like crazy in different colors. 10 years from now, the only MSPs worth owning will be the spicey orange ones...because I don't think you'll see a color like that on a car any time soon.

I have seen two ms6 since Jan when I first started looking at them, when I bought mine last month there where a total of 8 ms6 GT in the new england reagion dealerships.

I live in San Diego and i drive up to LA every weekend or two. In the 9 months I've owned the car, I've seen a total of maybe 5 Speed 6s. The first one i saw was after 3 months. And I saw two in the last 2 weeks. But one of them was the same one i saw before. VERY rare here at least...i've seen mostly regular 6s around.

I work 2 doors down from the Mazda dealership in Wichita. The 6i is all over town, 6s is a little more rare but the dealership has had an 06 ms6 on their lot for a number of months now (black on black). They cant get rid of it, even called me to see if I wanted to trade up...wish I could have.

funniest $h!t i've seen since i've been out here in Kansas. Little girl walkin her cow down the street on a frickin leash!!!(omg)

If I am correct on your zip code, your in dodge city...im surprised you dont see people riding their cows to school.

honestly, if you think about how many speed6 cars you see, it really isn't that many. I don't see a BMW M3 everyday, but I see them WAY more often than a speed6. I might have had 10 sightings in the last 3-4 months.... Numbers across the US are somewhere between 5-10k (with many of the 2006 models still on the lots lol). For comparison, some models (Camry, Civic, Accord, etc.) regularly sell more than 100k per year. Those models do it every single year, so they just keep multiplying it seems. The speed6 was only for 2 years and they are done.

Youre kidding right?
in 2003 they made the black and spicy...a total of 1750 of them
then they had the 2003.5 come out and they made 2750 of them in like maybe 4 total colors (i wouldnt call that "pumping them out like crazy").

So the total number made in the US is 4500 TOTAL. That makes them all pretty rare i would think...the black mica and spicys will be the rarest but still...in ten years they will all be really rare because they only made them for one year and the number on the road that are still in working condition MIGHT be half (2250) if the MSP owners are lucky.

my point is that you are comparing the speed6 to an MSP, but it looks like they produced at least 10x's (maybe 15x's) as many speed6s as MSPs...honestly i dont think the speed6 is very rare at all...they over produced it to have something to compete with the evo and sti as far as having an AWD, Turbo sedan.

I see them all over the place...i wish they hadnt made so many it wouldve been a lot cooler to have another very limited 'speed

Orange was the only original color...show me a photo of a black 03 (with fog lights) and I'll reneg that but I never saw one. March of 03 the only color you could get was Orange, I know that for a fact.

My point was that they made more than anticipated and by October of 03 dealerships couldn't get rid of them at invoice and below. Same happened with the MSM once the new model came out with close to the same HP numbers. MS6 dropped off, and I see no reason why the MS3 won't either. Plain and simple, there are only so many people in the US willing to purchase a stick-shift Mazda. Once the enthusiasts get theirs, there will be plenty to go around at invoice or below. Granted they may not be the color or options you want but they will be available.

In 2003 Spicy Orange and Black were avaible, they had the exact same body kit as the MP3, and had fog lights.
2003.5 had Grey, Silver, Yellow, and Blue. Different body kit, wing, wheels, a few different interior parts and no fog lights.

The only modifications I see on this car on the outside are the wheels, autoexe grill and autoexe lip. Other then that it is a Black 2003 MSP.

2 things..

All MY'03 Speeds had fog lights. All were either black or spicy.

And as no other cars having a color like the Spicy Orange? Well, the new Land Rovers are available with a similar color, but theirs actually has way more pearl in it.

My avatar is of an 03 black mica....

as noted in my sig it is a 2003 number 563 of 1750...im pretty sure mazda didnt make a mistake when i called with my vin...

and yes freekwonder is correct the '03 msps had the same kit as the MP3 but a different set of wheels. I believe they made 750 in the orange and 1000 in the black (im not 100% on this though). If you still dont believe us Id be happy to send you plenty of pictures of my car in addition to the one freekwonder posted.

Those were predicted numbers. But anyway, I was still told orange was the only color available in March of 03. I guess that was dealer BS. I didn't see a black one on the road or on the boards until at least a few months later.

ok listen fella, im sure that you were misinformed...i OWN a 2003 black msp. Id have to be insane to make that up. Predicted numbers or not 03' was black and orange and they both came out at the same time.

Honestly ive been on these boards for years and know MSPs inside and out and their history. And i didnt get my production number/year from these boards. I actually called MazdaUSA and they verified all my information. If you are gonna tell me that a dealer gave you that info and you are gonna believe what a dealer told you over someone on these boards then you have a problem...I mean do you know how many threads ive seen where dealers are labelling msp's as 03 mp3' or 01 mp3' as 01 msp's...or worse...they tell a person with a completely stock MSP that they modified it because they simply dont know that a msp came with a turbo, sway bars, etc.

Dealers know jackshit 90% of the time.
