just a poll to see what others do... i use those touchless car washes at the gas station and i usually do it twice a month to try and keep the salt to a minimum...

my buddy works at a dealership in detail so i get him to wash it that way i dont have to bother with the damn cold weather other than the snow i hate winter time

I wash mine as often as possible, somewhere between every storm and once a week, so I checked after every storm. I get to do it for free too since I used to work at the local wash for a year and a half and my brother is the manager there!

If it below -20 C (-4 F) i dont bother because the salt doesnt do anything below that ,salt water freezes at -18 C . if it above that I wash tthe car as soon as it get dirty or the build up in the wheel wells get to much , the joys of a loweed car in the winter .

A friend of mine that works at a autobody shop told me that the chemicals in the touchless scratch your car...i dunno if there is any truth in that tho.

I clean mine atleast once a week. I usually polish and wax it every other week.

I love working at a dealership.

polish and wax every other week = overkill. i wash mine whenever i have the money to pay for the good car wash near me. i'm too lazy to do it myself.

Once a week..oh wait a sec, it doesn't snow here. Just kidding, I don't mean to rub it in, but the coldest it gets here is 29 degrees. I did wash my car last week a 7 am and the water on my windshield turned to ice.

depends on how much it snows in this stupid state.

Ditto. And if I think I can wash it and not get frozen out of the car the next morning.

i try to wash mine when it warms up a little...my car gets so dirty in the winter with all the driving i do when skiing!

i tried to run it trhough the touchless wash once every 2 weeks to get the salt off the paint. It sucsk but its so damn cold its impossible to properly wash it. even the touchless is garbage so all is doing is just power rinsing most of it, you can see that when it dries there is still some salt left.
me and my buddies last year rented a heated warehouse and took all day detailing our cars. it just gets too expensive to do even once a month...

My dealership is closed on Sundays... I come in at about 10am and take my time washing my car in a warm garage with heated water ...hehehehe...Everyone wonders how my car is soo clean....

love the heated warehouse zoomvt... thats classic... car guys and the things we will do to get a clean car...

wish i had a dealship type place to go to....winter road grime sux

I have not washed my car for a month. The reason being is that I am a college student and car washes are $7 a piece or more around here (unless you drive 5 miles and wash your car between 6 and 8 PM, then it is only $3). We had salt on our road for about 2 weeks but I have done several highway trips since then so I haven't bothered. As soon as I return home from school this weekend I will put it through the wash at home where right now it's only $5 even for the top wash.

I intend to wash twice a month during winter since this is the first winter I will be using the car continuously.
