How much insurance do you guys pay for your Protege 5?

Check this one:
With 2 tickets back in 1998. I went to Geico (when I first bought my car), $425.00 a month.
Then I became sane, went to Erie from a referal - $200.00 a month. SOOOOOO much better! That's what you get for living in Wash. D.C.

spaz - USAA? you in the army?

negative, Father was for 30 years. He got me a good deal and then put it in my name. One of the benefits to taking the time to get my military ID card.

I pay around $1800 per year for '99 996 and '02 Protege 5.
My P5 cost me $800 per year.
When I had 3 series BMW, it only cost me $700 per year.

How many of you have really taken the time to shop around? Use me as an example...

My wife and I are both 29 w/ good records. I have an '03 P5 and my wife has a '99 Montero Sport. We have 150/300/150 coverage w/ comprehensive collision and pay $870 per 6 months through Progressive. I collected 6 quotes -- one company was over twice what Progressive gave me.

One more thing that a lot of people don't really consider is the amount of coverage you have. If your state requires compulsory insurance and you only have the minimum required by the state, you would never be able to cover everything if you hit an expensive car or caused a multiple car accident.

Don't carry too low of a deductible, either. If you raise your deductible to $500 or more, you'll likely be able to either save enough money on the difference in premiums to make your money back or you can afford higher coverage levels.

Just my thoughts. Hope I don't sound too "preachy"!

I pay about $450...

Just added th enew P5 to the policy, now I am about $950 for my 02 Altima and wife's P5 / 6 months.

Guys, one thing - I go through American Express. Did you know they did insurance? Exactly! I had no clue either!

Turns out they are the cheapest I can find with the best coverage. And this is $250 deductible with 2 cars!

Check it out, hope it helps. Of course, your mileage will vary depending where you live...

Actually you don't even need a military I.D. card. As long a one member of the family is/was in the militaary you are eligable for USAA insurence and benefits. I have both my wife and my cars through them for $690 every 6 month with full coverage and a $500 deductible, and thats with her driving 120 miles a day for work.

i couldnt go through usaa because originally i got a quote thru them when i still had a pa drivers license and that was a mistake, 1800 every six months just for me...now even though i just have a ok drivers license, they have it in their computer to check my pa driving record :(

Actually... As long as you or a member of your family is in the military or RETIRED from the military you are eligible for USAA. If like myself you just did your enlistment and got out and didn't join while you were in you are not eligible. They were one of the companies I looked into this last time around.

I pay $1280 / year, and its fully covered ( 2 million liability, $50 deductible for windshield vandalism, etc and $250 deductible for the rest)

For the first two years i get a brand new car if i scrap it.
