Also, if coming down to a stop in a hurry, stop a few feet shy and creep up to the stop. Grab neutral and let off the brakes completely if you can. Having had quite a few cars with less than capable brakes, I can tell you this helps a whole lot.
 
As Robotaz said...rotors don't typically warp. But a hot pad on a stationary rotor will leave deposits. I've NEVER had a set of rotors turned. Getting the brakes nice and hot again until they start to fade a little should help scrub off the deposits as well (on a closed course with proffessional driver of course). Just be sure to let them cool before stopping.
