just wondering the timeline for how long everyone is keeping their protege. when you vote, tell why you voted how you did. i'm mainly doing this outta curiousity, but i was also sorta wondering because:

i got my msp earlier this school year as a high school graduation/birthday/'every holiday for a long time' gift, and i know that this car will take me at least through college (so at least 4 years). sometimes i feel pressured to buy parts like midpipes and hardpipes and whatnot here pretty soon, because i worry that, in a few years, there won't be any companies making msp-specific parts and none will be available.

what do y'all think about this? are my 'fears' legitimate?

thanks for the input y'all.

drew.

There will always be stuff available for the mazdaspeed and there will be alot more stuff available in a few years.

you think so? considering the car was only produced for a year, it just seems like alot of companies would overlook our tiny niche in the market.

Well dont expect big name companies to produce stuff for our cars like blitz or hks but other companies will most likely be producing things for our cars. I think greddy may be coming out with a fmic by the summer im not sure though thats just what I have heard.

If anything, this car will get stored and become a project car. I won't get anywhere near what it's worth to me if I try to trade it in so why try?

I plan on keeping almost every car I buy. It's going good so far I still own my 1977 K20 Blazer. If the job keeps going well after the summer I will own an SC300 for a project car. Can you say Wooooooosh?

You are high on crack! After a few years? There won't be any of us left after a few years. There will be no market(as if there is now) No big name company is going to produce parts for a sub 4000 run production model. This has been discussed AT LENGTH before and apparently YOU didn't get the memo.

;)

This car is everything I've wanted in a car. I can't see why I would want anything else. there are some things I'd like to do in time (FMIC,Exhaust) but overall this car rocks.

I never kept a car for more than 2 years and this one will probably be no different. Besides its only been 5 months and I am starting to get the EVO bug again. I thought I cured that but I guess there ain't no cure for turbo and AWD.

If the Mazdaspeed 3 is 240HP AWD, I'm trading it in for that.
would you get the hatchback? i think those look alot better, for some reason. they seem to flow much more than the four door.

I like them both, I doubt they will release both the sedan and hatch, so whatever one is offered, I'd get :)

sounds like a plan (rockon).
that was a car my dad and i looked at before we purchased the speed i have now. they fall into that same category that the p5 does, in that it can be purchased as a pretty plain lookin vehicle, but with some upgraded wheels and some suspension tuning, its like you get a whole new car. best of luck on picking one up ;).

.......then; I will be looking at possibly, an S2000 or 350Z, or maybe even a Cooper S.(rockon)

a cooper s is a badass car. i think that is one of the coolest little cars around, but when i was looking to get a different car, all the used mini's were just advertising as much sticker price, so i had to pass. but i bet you could get a fairly good price on one here in the next couple years, if not shorter than that

I plan on keeping this car for a very long time. It is everything I wanted plus some and it is amazing to me. I just love it.

i totally agree. whenever i haven't been driving my car for a while (be it because it needs service, or i'm outta town, or i'm just driving a different car) and then i go for a ride, i just fall in love all over again. it just brings me right back :D
