How long did your Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires last?

Well, the factory Bridgestone tires have a treadwear rating of 140 (UTQG: 140) which isn't very high. I would expect just 15K-20K with the average driver because it is considered a performance Summer Tire. I typically get 25k-30k with tires with a UTQG rating of ~300.

Are you happy with the Cosmic Blue color? The True Red also looks nice, but doesn't seem quite right for me (51 years old).

I'm thinking its directed to the people who are constantly beating the crap out of the car and adding all kinds of s*** to it and then complain when something breaks.

However I take mine to the auto-x and road courses on occasion and still haven't had any problems

Oh okay. Thanks!

Ultra high performance summer tires aren't going to last long on a high performance car driven even moderately aggressive. Basically, if you’ve gotten 20k plus miles on the stock rubber you aren’t driving it hard enough. We all bought the car for different reasons obviously. My self for example, I drive it pretty aggressively at least 4-6 days a week on my daily commute to work and around town. I often fly around sharp corners because I like the feeling and the sound of the tires squealing. Sometimes when I’m at a light and no one is around I practice my launch and accelerate to the posted speed limit very rapidly. If there were speed limits of 155mph around my parts you better believe I would be doing that to. I have just over 15k miles on my car and not a single problem. It’s true that some people abuse their cars sometimes by pushing it too far. However, I think a lot of the problems (Cars breaking) mentioned by members on the forum weren’t necessary caused by owner abuse but my manufacturer defect.

At 17K mine has been trouble free as well and I fully expect the tires to last 25K or more, since they were less than 50% worn at 15K. It might see one three day track weekend in July; I'll see how the tires look after that.

Man I must drive like a granny if mine lasted 27K. My tread stips where showing at 20k Tho. (burnout)

When I saw that "140" for treadwear, I 'bout freaked. I suspect the next ones will be Pirelli PZeros. Since I won't drive this car more than maybe 8K/yr, I hope these tires will last me three years.

12,300 basically when I bought the car

The front 2 of mine only lasted like 3500 miles... they had like 30% tread on them and had used them in the snow so a lot of spinning tires. The 2 back ones had like 85% tread on them so yeah.. a big difference. I have BFG KDW2'S on right now. About to rotate them here in the next hundred miles when I get my oil changed.

Long-Term Test Update: 2007 Mazdaspeed3

"Cresting the 30,000-mile mark in our MS3 sees us officially 60-percent complete with our long-term evaluation and due for another service. Our maintenance costs so far are but a fraction of either the GS 450h's or XK's when they crossed the same point, perhaps because we are still on the original Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires the same ones Feature Editor Mike Monticello was on for its Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca initiation. Mind you, we are nearing the wear bars, as some recent rainstorms have revealed, but we are impressed with the run we've had on them."

Who is doing burn outs and then dragging? Slicks are the only tires that need to be heated up. peformance street tires will actually get the oposite effect of burn outs. They will get slippery...

This should be turned into survey poll where the choices are mile ranges. I likes me some graphs.

29k and i will still get another 10k out of them. I blast from a standstill often but dont do too many quick turns so my overwear will only come from acceleration and not lateral g's. I do believe i will stick with this brand.

The stock potenzas suck major ass as far as wear is concerned. I don't know how in God's name some of you are getting 20k plus miles out of them! Do you drive like a grandma or what? Be honest..

I'll tell you the truth mine were long gone by 10k and yes I did a few burn outs but It wasn't like I did it all the time (These were very short burnouts). Most of the time I felt like I was driving fairly conservative with sort bouts of "spirited" driving in between.

If you haven't been doing burnouts don't start unless you wanna buy new tires ASAP because those potenzas seem to disappear in a hurry.
