hose or caliper?

my msp recently started pulling to the side when i hit the brakes. then had a burning smell coming into the car, once i got to work i noticed the stock rim was totaly black and the rim was very hot to touch. this all happened on the way to work .
now i get home pull the wheel the rotor has about a 1 inch crack in it and of course the rotor and all hardware is covered ini dust. i pulled the pads and theres no uneven wear that i can see both sides are flat just the piston side is alot thinner now.
could this be the flex hose or just the caliper starting to seize up?

oh and does anyone know if the msp has the sport suspension package? i tried to order a caliper and the parts guy said theres two listed for the protege ??

the caliper is seized.... usually its the slider pins thats seized and all it needs is some relubing

the caliper assembly slides in and out freely, must be the piston stickin?

sounds like a bad caliper, but also check out your brake hose. If you get a new caliper i would recommend doing your brake hose too, to be safe.

just do a brake job with new pads seals and rotors. should be good to go.

it is a seized caliper, like what was mentioned before...yes the msp does have the sport suspension...my reccomendation is to just rebuild the caliper, change the pads and rotors, and make sure you grease the sliders with a good quality hi'temp brake grease.

think about it.... how can a hose keep the piston out??? is it kinked? if not then its fine.

if its an exuse to buy somthing, then get some ss ones from protegegarage.com(2thumbs)

if you are going to replace the hose, i would say to def upgrade to the ss lines, but the hose is def not to blame in this case.

how are you so sure? In a case like this it could be anything. In the car business never say never.
