honda s2000 opinions

why would "gargantuan" and "del sol" be anywhere remotely near each other?

I once fit 5 desktop computers, and 5 17 inch crt monitors , 5 keyboards, mice, power strips, toolkit etc... and still had space left over, lid closed as normal. Now that's one big f'in trunk for a 2 seater.

Also, due to the 2 seat configuration, a del sol had far more space for the 2 passengers to fit into, as compared to a civic or other "small" car.

Similar in the way that our mazda 3 has such abundant shoulder, elbow and leg room compared to other small cars.

i've had mine since 2002 and pretty much a garage queen now since i've had a family few years back. it has 107k miles on it and runs like new. even without turbo/supercharger it does well against higher hp cars at a roadcoarse.

positives:
one of the best handling cars out there
9k rpm
best tranny out there
fun to drive fun to drive fun to drive
great roadcoarse/autox car and geared for it
reliability(never had to take it to dealer for any problems)
cockpit fits like a glove

negatives:
stock hp low in comparison to newer cars since it came out in 1999
$ for mods very expensive with 0 to minimal gains. I/H/E more for sound and weight loss.
not a good daily driver
impractical 2 seater
no dsc or traction control (00-03) if leadfooted, have slow reflexes, no experience with rwd
noisy
no power down low in the powerband so have to keep it in 6-9k range
stock diff like glass if super or turbocharged so have to beef it up
reliability probably goes down if supercharged/turbocharged

supposedly the 2003 s2000's are the ones with the least problems out of the AP1s

I was looking into one of those before i bought my ms3 so i have a couple of links that might help him out.

I love that car I just cant fit into it 6'3" and long legs and 240 pounds I was originally going to buy one and get a hard top and then i sat in one and sadly couldnt get my knees under the dash :*(

The 05 and up S2000’s come with the better 2.2 liter and I wouldn't have it any other way. The car has plenty of power stock unless you weigh a ton and or put a ton of s*** in with it. Power to weight is the same as a MS3 It's got a very smooth linear progressive torque and really opens up past 5.5rpms making it a blast to drive. It's extremely well balance and probably one of the most fun cars to drive if you can fit in it right - Ideal height / weight for the s2000 is about 5'5- 5'10 and about 130 -165lbs. If you're much bigger you aren't going to enjoy it

Yeah it was a tight squeeze for me- I'm 5'11 at 270lbs. Someone 100lbs lighter lighter would fit much more comfortably.

unless you live your life according to lap times, I'd take the one that was more fun any day of the week

I owned 2 AP1's and I now own an 2004 AP2. I must say, I constantly miss the thrill of winding the car out an extra 1k RPM. The scream of the engine was incredible. However, that being said, my AP2 is faster. It pulls much more down low and give's away little to nothing up top. It is much easier to drive around town and with an I/E you get much of the visceral experience back that was lost when the car lost 1k in RPM's.

quite a few of my friends think the 03's and 04s sound the best

he can always get a 350z and throw a turbo on it
