HKS SSQV installed on my MS6

You can get all the parts you need for the install here.

The snap ring does suck to install, but you just need a good snap ring pliers and some patience, and it'll go in.

I ran my MS6 for a day VTA with the stock bypass valve.
The car ran very rich, had a few backfires as well, I could almost smell my cat going out from all that unburnt fuel!

But all is fine with that HKS? I read on another board that milage went to s*** when VTA.

I've been running vta for awhile now. My mileage is exactly the same if not a little better.

Where is the MAF located on the MS6? Cause i am trying to understand why VTA wouldn't affect anything.

Sigh... With an aftermarket blow off valve, most allow you to Vent To Atmosphere, or recirculate the flow coming from the valve back into the intake. Vent To Atmosphere means just how it sounds. The excess intake gases that get vented when you shift, or let off the throttle get vented into the atmosphere (your engine bay)

With your comment and others comments about the snap ring, I knew it was going to be a pita - and I thought I was prepared for a rough install, but if I never see another freaking snap ring again it will still be too soon.

I used the recirc fitting and am running it in recirculation mode (like a bpv). I only became interested in it when I saw folks saying that boost was holding longer before falling past 5500 rpms. I have had the HKS installed for two days and I have to agree that it does seem like boost is holding longer and seems to build quicker. I wonder if the stock bpv is a weak link and was bleeding off boost. Looks like there is an additional benefit to this other than just the sound it makes.

Whats with "recirculataion" I've talked with shop.. after...shop.. after shop... and they all say the same thing... no matter how you connect the BOV... it still provides the same performance... the larger the BOV.. the faster it can release pressure... But whats the "difference" between VTA.. and recirc?

Will VTA cause engine lights, or will the ECU detect a change and run rich... or different?

When air enters the intake it passes through the MAF through the turbo through the intercooler then into the throttlebody. The BOV is right before the throttlebody and when it releases the air is vented back into the intake after the MAF sensor, but before the turbo. That way no metered air is removed from the system, and the ECU is happy.

When the BOV is set up to VTA the air is just vented out into the engine bay--because the vented air has already been metered the engine will run slightly rich after the valve releases because that air never reaches the engine. On some motors it can cause check engine lights and stalling and alot of other weird problems. On the MS6 it doesn't really have any negative effect on the engine or gas mileage. I have been running VTA for a couple of weeks with no issues other than the occasional popping in the exaust.

Neither way provides "better" performance. But VTA sounds alot cooler.

Thanks for the reply... Once I find and order a BOV... I've found a greddy.. and HKS i have to decide between.... I'll be able to run it both VTA and recirc... see which i like more.. or which causes less problems...

36,000 dollar stock car... i don't want any rice.... at all in this thing... that includes popping... backfiring... annoying loud POS exhaust... ya'll know what i'm talking about...

I'd rather have NO BoV sound.. than a sputtering BOV.. or car that pops and backfires own the street every so often..

damn u paid 36K?!? u got ripped

Sticker price on Speed6 is 36,000 something...

I paid 34,000... with 10 / 100 warranty upgrade... and 5 years oilchange thing...

If 34,000 for all that is a rip-off i'd love to see where you can get better... So I can go complain...

Has anyone got a sound clip from a MS6?

Hey I want to hear both the greddy and the HKS on the speed 6 anyone have soundclips from their own cars?

good luck tryin to mod a car in VA beach. So many gay rules. I lived there for 4 years and hated every second of it

haha damn so bitter. 4 years? so you must have been in the navy. Yah they have s*** like no swearing in public no drinking in public that kinda crap even if you are on your own lawn. I think it is ok out here. I want to go to san diego though for the uberness.

Man the BOV snap ring wooped my butt. Just remember for those of you that have not had the pleasure to put this on. The FLAT side of the snapring goes down.... It drove good for me for 2 days before my blow off valve blew off. hahaha had to drive limp dick all the way home. But when you get that snap ring in there. You can hardly move it around so be sure it is where you want it.
