hiboost kit

ChrisWinsor said:
yeah i'de be plenty happy with a 11sec protege
if i bought the complete hiboost kit i would only need a clutch, forged internals, turbo timer, boost controller, but is there a deffinate on the injectors, fuel rail, oe fuel pump (to run boost up around 20psi)??

The 11 second car has the following:

HiBoost basic kit
440cc injectors
ACT XXtreme clutch
Forged Pauter rods with HiBoost pistons (Requires no honning of engine block)
ARP head studs
Cometic head gasket
M&H racing slicks
Quaife LSD
3 inch custom exhaust

We can get a complete package with all these components or you can do it in stages and steps. This car has been built this way. He got the basic kit about 18 months ago and upgraded little by little.

This car can run 17 psi daily on 93 octane fuel.

The car has been thru the track more than 50 times with not a single engine issue. Some tranny issues.

There you have it, str8 from the owner himself...do it in stages, easier on the pocket and gives you more fun over a longer time by provding upgrade options...ahh, i remember the days when 8lbs was fun =)

only thing is is that when i pull the engine out / have it taken out i would want it all done at one time... (clutch, internals, LSD)... for one reason.... i dont have a lift to do it... or a garage to do it in :(

are the pistons 8.5:1 compression ratio??

and i am not competly concerned with slicks... because it is a daily driver

also what tranny issues have you had??

Pistons are 8.5 to 1 CR. They require no honning of the engine block and will be as quiet as the stockers. Forged units will be noisy.

We have had some issues with the open differential, but with the LSD that will be solved and above 325 WHP the 3rd gear seamd to be weak, but we will have solution to this very soon.

got 332 whp at 22psi

I did a dyno tune last saturday at i got 332 whp @ 22psi , 377 Nm of torque. I couldn't get what you get (357whp). The engine setup is using hiboost big boost kit (GT30R) , e6x , 550cc injector , wiseco 9:1CR , MSD dis-2, pumped gas and custome intake manifold.

What could be the problem? I suspect the custome intake manifold is the culprit. What do you think? Also, the response is quite slow, as full boost , max torq is around 5K rpm?

Anyway, hiboost product is very reliable and worth every cents!

Why did you go back to 9:1 CR psitons? That is why. You need to retard the timing too much to avoid detonation. High HP boosted cars run on 8.5 to or lower. EVOs are 8.2 from the factory.

I just dynoed my car with new setup and got 336 at 19 psi with a regular T3/TO4E turbo.

I will post pictures and dyno chart later.

good question..

juan:

i had a broken ring on cylinder#1, the block was damaged. i had to bore the cylinder bigger +1mm. Need a quick replacement ,and wiseco has off-the-shelve piston. so i took it.

yes, the tuner did retard the timing even more. You re absolutely correct. I guess i have to get another set of 8.5:1 pistons.

one other thing, what;s the cure for the slow response? if i were to advance the timing just before hit max boost, will it improve the response?
I'll send u my e6x MAP, pls help me to analyse and make recommendation. can u do that?

Have you ever seen someone boost a high mile protege with no problems? I have 104k miles on my 02 ES, mods listed below. Maintance is top notch with no issues. Just a little concern to go either built block, then boost, or vis versa.

PS. Bought car brand new in 02 and is daily driver.

ChrisWinsor,
Sorry if I thead jack.. i'm feeling your same questions as i'm iching for boost myself.

Sooner or later, all our engine run out. Some sooner than others. You should be able to boost it with no problems, until it's your engine's time to go.

Any suggestions to compensate for the high miles.. (all highway). Or just stick to the same-o-same-o boosting mods.

i think what he is trying to say is get the rest of the engines life before you need to rebild NOS till it blows then worrie about forged stuff. other wise you just internals on the shelf that had some life left that you could never sell because of their age. "just being fruitfull"

ya i think your right.. but then again you can't get the nice high whp out of stock internals.. so they got to go eventally. But i'm sure with proper tuning they can last awhile.

You can run a turbo in your engine as long as you run 8 psi. It does not have to blow. It will work and then, once it is time for a re build, you can do the internals.
