help with headers

a friend of mine is selling his miata so he told me to give me his aftermarket headers. the problem is that he has a 18i. this might sound stupid to most of you but... can i fit those headers on a 16i engine? (dunno)

No. The 1.8 is longer.
Also a NA header won't fit a NB, so if you get a 94-97 header it won't work on the '00 in your sig.

longer? i dont think that would be a problem because i've got aftermarket muffler and i took the cat off. the one in my sig is 97 model too what i'm trying to say (my english are not very good) is: will it fit on the engine? or doesn't it fit?

Headers made for the 1.8L WILL work on any 1.8. The exhaust ports and mounting are the same for both NA and NB. It's the intake ports and mounting that was changed in 99.

The 1.8L engine itself is longer than the 1.6L. So no, it wont' fit.

While they'll all mount to the block, the outlets are different with stock exhaust. The EGR piping is different as well.
