Hello, I just purchased a used set of Motegi Mr4 rims. I love them, they are gun metal and are going to fit my car great! I just picked up tires for them yesterday and was planning on having them installed on monday. One of the rims is pretty rusted on the back side and a little bit on the front, itleast I think its rust? Well anyways, I got an S.O.S pad and started scrubbing thinking nothing would happen and it ate the paint up a little bit, luckily I did it on the inside. Here is where it ate the paint:

Now my question is, how do I get this stuff off?!?! Any tips or secret solutions?! Please help, I would like to get them cleaned up today. Thanks, Ryan!(nana)

You could do what I did on my stock wheels and will do to my Enkies this fall. Paint the inside of the wheel satin black, makes them soo much easier to clean and when they are stained like mine from brake rotor rust and other crap all you see is a nice black surface. Future stains are harder to see as well. That rusty stain on the "pretty side" of your wheel I don't know what to tell you there. You may have to repaint them.

Well I took the tires to a detail shop, the guy said he couldnt do anything without taking off the clear coat. So I took it to another better detail shop and he said he can wet sand it with 500 sand paper and duplicate them and they wil look brand new. Anyone here of this?

You can fix that yourself, its just surface rust and the clear is already gone in those spots. Go to ace hardware and get some Ospho and pick up tape, a packet of 3M wet/dry sand paper along with a couple of cans of aluminum paint and clear coat. Why pay some one else to do a very simple DIY project?

Well how much does all that cost? Cause this guy is really cheap and good. He charges 20$ a rim. I'm only getting 1 done. I really don't understand how to do it.

Probably close to that amount but you would have enough to do all 4. So if reading up on how to prep & paint your wheels isn't for you than just fork over the Jackson and be done with it.

Sand and paint those bad boys, he could always head to the boys at PIE and they can show him how it is done!!!
