HELP, Please!

03 Mazdaspeed Protege with an AEM CAI, thats it. No other mods, yet.

When I punch it, and it reaches 3800 to 4200 rpm, the engine bogs, and jerks like crazy. Release the gas, it's ok, though very hard to continue acceralation.

A similar situation occurs under low load acceleration on the highway (5th gear), then I drop it into third, punch it again, get through the bogs and the jerks, and the car is okay. Until the next instance.

Serious black smoke is coming from my tail; an indication that I'm running rich.

Checked all the piping (stock), seems okay. Changed the plugs, coils, and wires.

Where should I go next? MAF, Catalytic converter, Fuel pump? I'm stuck. Help me please.

Oh and also, when I correct this problem, I want to change the piping and install an upgraded intercooler, with a new exhaust from Zoros. Any ideas? Thanks

common MSP problem known as hesitation. we sell a very good cure for it;

translates its own MAP sensor signal to the ECU so that the car pulls and runs much smoother.

I'm not sure this is hesitation. If it is, its pretty brutal. Why then has the problem just recently become evident?

probably wastegate. Mine just went bad and it did the same thing. Get a boost gauge to confirm.

I agree you need to figure out ow much boost is running through your engine. more than likely WGA. I bet your are hitting fuel cut.

Or even cheaper just blow through the vac line to the wga. If you can blow freely then it's bad
