2002 Mazda Protege Dx (BLOWN) 2002 Mazda Protege Lx
Hey what's up guys I look on fourms now and then but i have never made an account and actually used them frequently so here i am. I bought a completely stock Dx 2002 Mazda Protege 4DR Sedan with 98k miles on it (no it is not a MSP which sucks but oh well gotta work with what yah got) So for now until i get a better car I want to make my car look and sound better, so I was hoping for some advice and things I can do to achieve the goal of having a better looking car. It is a protege so I already know any big performance boosts is not really gonna happen, (it is also automatic as well so I'm not worried about performance). I just want to focus on appearance. All advice is appreciated, Thanks. This is what I'm working with...

I'd first drop it down with a set of H&R Sport springs. Later, I'd get some Montegi Racing or maybe Kosei 16" wheels. Of course, you can get much better sound with a Magnaflow muffler and better tunes with an MP3 stereo receiver.

Add the OEM front fog lights, and OEM rear spoiler (some people like the MSP spoilers better but I dont).

You will be shocked how well the car handles once its lowered. My wife has the exact same car automatic and all (but green) and its lacking in the HP department, but OMG is it fun to whip around turns and traffic. I joke with her and tell her I feel like I'm driving a go kart.

IMHO I'm not a fan of making a NON MSP look like the MSP with all the "clone" parts. I was planning on doing that to hers and then looked at the car and decided against it.

Front strut tower brace works great.

again IMHO,

I see people on here spending money on radiator brackets, air panels, nut kits, etc etc.... I don't see the point in it. At least not for my/our car. Its never going to be a race car.

z31jaime, Dude i know exactly what your saying if i want HP, ill save up for a damn supra or some s***, I just want it to look good and drive well. I also am not a fan of a Non MSP lookin like a MSP. I think it is dumb for a car to look fast and then you can't back it up with your lack of power, in my opinion I'd rather have a nasty sleeper and have people think my car is slow as s*** until all they see are tire marks on the road and the faint illuminance of my tail lights haha. I am new to cars so I am still figuring things out, what is a Front Strut Tower Brace for? Is it just pretty much just a strut bar? Also any advice on wear to find OEM parts other then ebay?

Yo Concept, I already installed a Kenwood Head Unit and some Sony X-Plod rear speakers and i've got a 10"in tube sub with an amp (but need a new amp) so my tunes sound straight haha. And I want some Coil Overs for my car, but are coil overs worst than regular springs?? What exhaust has the best low grumbling sound? (I know i don't a V-6 or V-8 or a boxer engine so it will only be so low but is Magnaflow the best? And I like those rims but I'm gonna go with something a little more like this.... https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)

El Chupa, those wheels look great, although I recommend that you always find out how much each one weighs. I have Enkei Racing 17x7s on my MX5 and those are just a bit over 15 lbs each (They gained 4 oz after I had them powder-coated.) I've attached a pic of those. If you get 15" wheels, make sure they are lighter than 13 lbs. 16s should be 15 lbs or less - the lighter, the better, although you should stick to well-known brands.

Magnaflow exhaust systems or even just one of their mufflers really sound great, in my opinion - very low tone, almost like a V8 sound. Borlas sound similar.
