Anyone out there that can help me on my MPI right now? Nick made a map so that I would pass emmissions, but the TM (the new TM) calibrations seem to be off cuz Im hitting a brick wall under hard throttle entering boost...Im gonna go load up the maps and post them.

This current map is for my car with 6.5 psi .. T3 with MP3 ECU and the new TM....

I need to alter this map for the same turbo setup but for the P5 ECU and smoother boost entry..I have a harsh, sometimes brickwall transition...Thanks...

Damn dude, you don't know yet? First thing is the injection tab as WAY too mauch fuel. You were supposed to trim it out. You don't want them things on until you need them. Mainly up in the top right area of the map and maybe the top 4-5 rows only. Something like this, but you may need higher values and more of an area. But you can get the jist and see the difference. He prob made a generic one for you to play with, so....GIT ER DONE!!!

You still have that P5 ECU??? That's why you needed a different map to pass.

how about taking it to a dyno shop and have them help tune. might be a little expensive but it will be done right and will avoid blowing something up.

No..I have the mp3 ecu in and I used that to pass..thats why the timing map looks the way it does..Now that I passed I want to throw the P5 back in so i dont have to worry about the timing advance..

Im gonna go out and work on her now..

Should I 1.00 down the Fuel Amp column too?

The last thing I would do is get it dynoed. You should get all of your everyday driving done first. Then and only after that should dyno.
I am guessing that you got your boost gauge and AFR gauge hook back up now?

I say leave the MP3 ECU in and tune the timing, I have a map that I use for timing that runs on crappy 91 octane and the J&S doesn't light up at all. No CEL either.

yea all of the gauges are in ....and working quite well..I also wired leds to see when the extra injectors are firing..its kinda funny..everytime the leds light up, you know the wideband just slams past 11.0 and bottoms out...So I really need to start pulling the fuel..

Do you really think I should keep the MP3 ECU in? I was just going to save this map as my inspection map, then put in the P5 ECU..Whenever I need to get inspected I would have to install the MP3 ECU and load the map...

and oh yea Timm...I dont have the J&S..I wasnt sure if you know that..Does the timing map look that off?

you need a lot of timing out through the middle of the map. If you keep the MP3 ECU in, I can send you a map to use for timing. I used the same map for a couple of P5's out here. It's better safe then sorry, you know what I mean. Then if you get a CEL, you'll know about it because you won't have the constant CEL from the P5 ECU.

With your map..you really do need to lower those numbers...the new TM dumps hella lot of fuel...i have negative numbers in the columns i have boost..i am only at 4 psi right now..but i have a 12.1-12.3 a/f steady...

Also you might wanna consider...chaning you analog number down..i have mine set at 5.

Post that timing map in this thread if you dont mind..I think I might stick with the MP3 ecu

thats what i was saying...But if Timm has the maps and the J&S, then they must be right, no?

Well LinuxRacr's MP3 didnt like timing under boost and he had a J&S on it. If you have a FMIC you can get away with a few more degrees. I personally don't recommend using a MP3 ECU for turbo. The MPI max timing retard is -44 and he was in the high -20s and low -30s. It's your choice.

yeah but he had his timing off on his car already, so that's why he had so much out. He told me that the guy who tuned the car with the Haltech found that the stock timing was off and had been off, so maybe when he had the motor built, the timing wasn't set right then. That's a big problem that needed to be fixed for ANY EMS. He got it fixed for the Haaltech, so now he is having much more success, maybe he would of had more luck with the MPI if is was right, but he seems very happy with what he has now and that's what counts.

Yeah the MP3 ECU sucks for timing, but I have ZERO detination with the piss water gas they have out here. When I dynoed, I was able to add up to 5 degree's of timing before it would light up. Those 5 degree's didn't gain but maybe 1-2 hp, so I took them back out to be safe. I have a max of 15 degree's of retard on top of the stock timing at 8psi. This is more then enough and is a safe place to be with my setup. I like the safe area, so I'll leave all it out. I'll post the ignition map later when I get home.
