help me out audio gurus

PS!
Potential Scammer!
Right now i have 2 12" 1000w jbls 350w rms and a sony 760w amp in 2 seperate sealed boxes with 4gauge wire kit in the mp3. Its not doing it for me anymore so im trying to get ready to step it up the only problem is i dont know exactly what the best configuration would be for me with so many out there. I listen to rap , my budget is around $2000 and im looking for the most bass.

Ive done some looking around in local audio shops and i think im going with this.
1 12" solo baric X (5000w 2500w rms)
2 Alpine v12 Amps (1000w rms each)
ported box
0 Gauge wire if nescessary

Would that be my best way to go? A few people i know have gone with some companies that make really nice competition subwoofers but i dont remember the names. Anyone know any really good ones that would outperform the x within around $2000 for everything i need.

just upgrading the amp with a cleaner more powerful one will probably improve the bass response from the jbl's so i would start with that

some of the best subs out for cars started out as home theater subs for the home, take a look at the Brahma mentioned above and also:

http://www.aespeakers.com/products_av12.php

if the current boxes are the right size get a couple of those and that hifonics amp

Were you planning on using 2 amps for the one sub? (no)

Alpine for major Bass? (no)

I agree with wake that the Solo baric isn't the way to go. Also, all bass and no highs or mids is immensly stupid. A head unit or small amp can not keep up with 2000 watts rms of bass. Spend atleast $500 on a nice set of front components and a strong amp for them.

I'd be looking at a kicker or MTX amplifier. Rockford Fosgates a good choice too. For the subs, 2 12" Brahma would be as loud as you should ever want it and if there not, then the box is built wrong.

A pair of Brahmas will run you $760, a kicker KX1200.1 will do the job for $800 or, if you have the budget, a Rockford Fosgate T2001bd is $1300 at sound domain and should help you go deaf in no time.

am i reading this correctly?! 1sty actually recomending a brahma?!

even a JBL BPX2200.1 will push a set of nice 12's, but i'd get dual 4 ohm models (you can special order the XXX's from RE, or get a set of dual 4 IDMAX's) since that amp puts out more power at 4 ohms mono than 1 or 2 ohms. or just get an A3000GTI and get a dual 2 ohm model. just run one sub on each channel.

Two 12" Brahmas with 2000watts rms...all i ask is you turn it down when you drive by my state, that would be loud

Im going with one 12" with 400watts rms thats plenty for me as I value my car windows:)

hey guys heres my 2 cents i just got the new audiobahn 12" aluminum and for the price its the best sub i have ever bought 140$ 1000Watts rms / 2000max
dual 6 ohm tweeters the thing is sick ,and yeah firsty right if your gunna spend some cash deff do the hle car get good set of componets and amp em.
MAke sure your wiring is up to par and hell while your at it look into a alternator upgrade and cap.

Hopefully you got the piezo or horn tweeters in them and not the lame silk dome or aluminum dome tweeters:)

I like the horn drivers that are pressure fit, not even screwed in :D

w7 vs. a brahmas......discuss...

been done a million times. brahma owns the w7 for SPL in every test i've seen or heard about. for low volumes, you won't hear a difference between the 2 for SQ, but in the higher volumes the xbl2 owns as it has lower distortion.

I have yet to ever see a qualified person comparison test the 2 and most htat have test each individualy give the nod to the W7 from what I have read. The only time I have heard anyone mention a W7 distorting is when they went by JL's power spec which is about 1/3 of what it should be.

Brahma = 95% of the perfomance of a W7 for 2/3 the cost but also, 75% of the reliability, warrenty, and availability.

They have had build problems in the past as they don't have QC over the product in assembly as they outsource the building, JL build the W7 in the US in there own assembly line.

You are not warrentied for competition use and any speaker death is subject to being analyzed before they warrenty it. This means it has to go back to them, and they aren't cheap to ship.

Availability wise, walk into any JL dealer at any time and your either leaving with a W7 or you'll have one in 2 days. Because of there lower volume and outsource building, Adire has periods of unavailablity.

Regardless of all this, for the cost, they are one of the best sub options available. And for the cost, the install is usualy the determing factor of the over system SPL or SQ with subs this close in perfomance. \

Personly, unless you have a ton of clean, steady power, I'd get a brahma.

dumax doesn't lie:
brahma
W7

flatter BL = less distortion over longer throws.

i tested my brahma against my buddy's w7 10. mounted in the trunk with the back seats up, we could not hear a difference, until the brahma got the power it needed to get louder than the w7. SQ, we couldn't hear a difference. but our ears weren't right next to the subs. if he still had the w7, i'd do a comparison with the back seats down, so it would be easier to hear any distortion.
