Help me find affordable rims/wheels for my MS6

and I think these are the silver ones...

Well, if it was up to ME, i would pick one of these three wheels posted earlier in this thread.

Exel TZ-10 18x7.5+45 $541 (silver)
NEX-O TS-1 18x7.5+45 $583
SportMax 925 18x7.5+42 $583

Hope it helps

I like the look of the TZ-10 in the wheelmax photo but when I found photos of them installed they didn't stand out as much...

The TS-1s after a second look, have that fake bolt look going for them. If I want a 2- or 3-piece looking wheel, I'll buy one instead of a molded knock off.

The SportMax 925 are similar to the 5zigens I photochoped above but are painted instead of polished.

I will go through all the wheels I picked out before once more but I think I have narrowed it down to the 5zigen gravis and Exel Ennio.

I do like those SportMax 925s as well. Painted is cool by me, means you can wax it to be real shiny :)

I don't see any fake bolts! Where do you see them?

(TS-10 though it seems.. not TS-1).

I've heard too many stories of wheels from WheelMax cracking etc. They are dirt cheap for a reason, folks. ;)

You wouldn't BELIEVE the abuse my very thin-spoked wheelmax wheels have taken. Rochester streets are a bit uh.. special. And with 205/40-17 rubber band tires, I'm SHOCKED that I haven't bent a rim or anything with all they've been through. Even a catastrophic ecsta MX blowout on the highway (shop improperly mounted the tire) with just a light scratch along the outside edge. A paint only fix :)

The reason they are so durable is because they're so heavy (chair)

but it's all good.

Even if I had to buy 2-sets of the wheelmax knockoffs they'd still be cheaper than the original JDM wheels. They are cheap to buy and cheap to replace. Since all rims have the capability to bend, I'd still call it a good deal. I have heard numerous reports of wheelmax's less than stellar balancing jobs but that won't concern me since I'm only buying wheels from them.

Kansei is also right about the weight. A heavier wheel in many cases is a more durable wheel. That's why I don't shop "weight". The only time when weight would be a severe factor on daily driving would be if I were running 20+" rims made of solid chrome. Since the designs I'm chosing are relatively light to begin with I don't think I'll have too much of a problem.

chris, you buying on line and instaklling them yourself? any decisions yet? i'd weigh in but wheels are so personal a choice!

Well, I'm waiting to here back from Dan about my RX8 rims he might buy. If he decides to take them, I'll buy a set of Megan Racing springs ($100 -- 2" drop) and whatever wheels I choose. I'm going to just buy wheels. Right now I'm leaning toward the Exel Ennio.

When I get the wheels I'll take them to TFT or some place to have my stock tires transfered to the new wheels and a set of all-seasons or snows put on the stock tires for next winter. Hopefully I can get the springs installed before all our summer events take place. Anyone up for another spring install? I'd also like to paint the calipers while I'm in modding mode. I'm also thinking about upgrading the rear motor mount and the TWM short shifter (just the plate, not the shaft) but those would add up to another $250 so I may hold off on those. Then I need to start on the stereo.

But what I REALLY want is to have my car back. Hmm, I'll give FMW a call now and see if it is ready.

18x8+45 gunmetal ennio on 215/45/18 (stock tire size)

These will probably rub when lowered though. They don't have 18x7.5 but they do have 18x7. I doubt they have 18x8+50 so I'd be best off getting the +45s and rolling the fenders if they start rubbing.

is that a black cherry mica ms6? those wheels are sharp!

i was thinking about getting these wheels for my car:

MB Wheels Boost @ $159 a peice.

I don't know if it is black cherry or black mica. Black on black/gunmetal just doesn't do anything for me. You can get the same effect with a set of steelies.

mine's black cherry mica and i think it would look nice with a set of gunmetal wheels. at least when my stock wheels are covered in brakedust, they look nice (lol2) i might just get the stock wheels painted gunmetal/grey

This wheel isn't cheap, and I couldn't find another place to post and get feedback.... Sorry to butt in on someone else's post. I have a Liquid Platinum MS6.

These are $325/ea

yum that's a nice looking wheel!

Who said MB Boost wheels are lighter than stock? You're wrong. I called DTD & the Boost wheel weighs 26 lbs vs the 23.5 of our stockers. Now I have to find another set I like. Ugh...

Anyone know where I can find the weight of the Exel Ennio 18x8? I'm sure it is more than stock but I hope it isn't too much more.

Edit:
Nevermind, I guess they are about 23lbs. Not lightweight...but comparable to stock.

I like it. +1

Let me know how it works out I might go a similar route with mine. :D

You'd need a second set of wheels for auto-x...

Man... I only wish that these were lighter...

Well I've been giving this some more thought. I was at a show the other day and saw some SDR's...the one that the Rota D2 is a knock off of. They were black on a Red S2000 and looked hawt! I asked the guy what type of rims they were and after he said they were SDRs he told me everyone thinks they are Rotas. LOL! Why pay the extra money if the knock-off is more recognizable! The D2s are a little above my budget but we'll see. At least they have a +48 offset available unlike most of the Exel rims.

At the same show I saw a car with Exel Ennios and I wasn't really impressed with them. They looked OK but the photo on the website makes them look much better than they do in person.
