Help installing HID Kit

:
2003 Mazda Protege 5
hey guys, i recently purchased an HID kit for my 03 Mazda Protege 5. Going over everything, i noticed that there are 2 red wires going into the stock headlight bulb instead of a usual 1 red and 1 black. How can i figure out which one is hot and the other ground?

thanks in advance for your help :)

The stock bulbs should have a black adapter attached to the bulbs, and is also attached to a white plug. Remove the adapter which you will no longer use.

There should be 2 pigtail connectors coming out of the HIDs... plug those into that white connector. Really trial and error with those. Don't worry though, there's only 2 options, and if you are wrong, the lights won't work.

okay, all i wanted to know was that would something bad happen if i connected them in reverse. Thanks for the help :)

also, it says in the instructions that id need to put in 20A fuses, the P5 comes with 15A fuses, is it really needed or should i leave the 15A?

I didn't bother trying with 15a, my kit came with the 20a fuse, so if you have one, go for it!

Thanks for azuelke and mp5turbo advice, got my HID's in and they are running perfect :)

here's some pics guys, what do you think ? also put in yellow foglights since i had some time to spare :)

Wait...we're supposed to go with a 20A fuse when we go with an aftermarket HID kit? I'm wondering if that's causing one of my bulbs to flicker upon powering them up.

I mounted the drivers side on the side of the fusebox and the passenger side is temporarily zip tied to the power steering line since the cables to the ballast are really short :/

and about the 20A fuse, do not change the fuse in the fusebox. if you change to a 20A from a 15A, then you have a chance of frying the harness if there was a problem to occur.

and i went with some no name kit :P a shop near my place was having a sale, 50$ for a complete kit, reg price $100

im also going to be putting in the relay into it just to make things nicer for myself :)

how'd you guys get the bulb to stay in the socket? i obviously tried the little spring for the original bulbs, but that doesnt work too good as the bulb just flops around. so (maybe) for now, i've just got them siliconed into there, seems to be working.

royce416 there is an adaptor base that sits behind the bulb to keep it in place with the spring clip. I saw them on ebay if your kit didn't come with it. Just installed a 5000k system last weekend and I'm lovin it.

do you guys think its worth putting some 4000k's or so (as yellow as possible) in for fogs to complement the 10000k's that I threw in the low beams last week?

I need to do 3000k in my fogs like that. Mine are completely useless with the 5000k's in the low beams.

@royce416 - i made myself "adapter rings" out of plastic the same thickness as the adapter between the stock bulb and spring.

@brettbabin4460 i have 3000K fogs with my 8000K low beams. looks really good at night.

I didn't have any relays or extra power running them... no problem for over a year. Some people seem to have power issues with just 1 set, so I guess its just luck of the draw?
