CX-9 2013 Touring Tech Package..Black on Black
Just bought a CX-9 with the touring tech package... do not like the headlights, they make a rectangle in front of my car. Will buying halogen fix this?? I love the new whip

the "rectangle" you describe is the beam pattern created by the projector. if you're coming from a vehicle with reflector housings it will be very new and noticeable to you at first but you will get used to it. Most newer vehicles these days carry projectors and will have a cutoff.

Changing light sources will not affect the beam pattern. It's a safety feature designed not to blind other drivers with the glare created by the projectors.

The 2013 headlights are much better then the previous years. I am really happy with it, and the LED DRLs are sooo slick!

The half-spherical glass refractor has a slit at the top. Also the design of the bucket also aids in the sharp "cutoff" you see. This is actually done per legal requirements of the safety nazis who deem this as necessary due to oncoming vehicles.

Thanks for the replies, I bought the 2013 Touring CX-9 and i was previously driving a BMW 330. I have my first kid on the way so it was time to buy a family car. The headlight rectangle isn't noticeable when the roads are lit but it was a little distracting. Thanks again for the info

The projectors on the cx-9 are pretty good. On my speed6 I had to do a retrofit to get better output.
