my 03 p5 low beam headlights are aimed just fine one high beam is fine but the other seems to point way down, i need to either pull that one up(as it is really low i cannot use high beams right because of this) or put something under it to raise that beam. any suggestions? is there a piece i maybe missing under the light or a screw i can adjust the high beam with?

A fast fix here is to take out the high beam bulb and bend it at the base DOWN maybe 1/8 inch at the tip. This will raise the beam up a good bit. Some bulbs bend more easily than others. You can first loosten up the mount or screw it out and tilt it while on and see the effect before you bend it. When you bend it, you first can press the bottom support in to collapse it a bit to allow then downwards bending.

You can adjust the headlights with I believe a 10 mm socket. Youll see two bolts on each headlight, one is sideways and one is just directly straight up and down. I didnt know this before and someone on here let me know. All you do is go counterclockwise and it raises the whole light assembly up a little. Very simple, I'm so glad mine are adjusted now. Good luck...

That adjusts both high and low beams together,... You can't adjust the beams separately.

I had the same problem,... It turned out to be that only one of the spring clips that presses on the back of the bulb housing wasn't pressing on the bulb tab so the bulb wasn't held in properly.

Mine were at a good height till I put in HID low beams. After lowering for those, the highs were of course too low. I tried messing with shims etc. in the high beams then finally bent them and never looked back. (eek2)

Make sure the plastic spacer is present on the back of the bulb itself. If someone changed the bulb but forgot to put the spacer on the new bulb, the retainer spring won't hold it in place.

Your headlights may have been adjusted for the low beams that may not be seated properly.

If you seat the low beams properly (if that is the problem) then readjust the low beam again, then the high beams will be lined up properly.

(That's what happened with my car)

Make sure hat if you're looking in the headlight housing from the front and check to make sure that the tabs from the headlight are set correctly. I know one of my low beams was off and I couldn't figure it out. I'll try and get pics up tomorrow to show you what I mean. Someone may have installed the low beam weird on that side and just adjusted it so the low beam was correct leaving the high beam as it is.

+1

Had the exact same thing happen to me, too. Well, except for the re-aiming so the low beam was fine and the high was effed up. Me, I was stupid and seated the bulb wrong, didn't realize it until a few days later when I finally drove at night. But it was winter and cold so I left it aimed at the ground. It's been fixed since, though. lol
