Waste of money is a judgement call. I personally think the blue colored lights are only put into cars because they're different.
What I mean is: if all headlights were blue, white lights would actually be an improvement, going from white to blue is sacrificing function for looks just to be "different".
I'd imagine that so long as the color is all you're after you probably wont need a new harness.
