2007 Mazda 3 Hatchback
My wife's 2007 Hatchback, which she named Lucy, is starting to get a little droopy in the rear end. I've noticed several things that are starting to happen over the past few months. First, I started noticing the rear tires have a slight tilt inward. Then, I noticed that if going over a bump during a turn, the backend actually bounces and skips - sometimes its a little scary because it almost feels like it wants to skip on around the front end!

My wife uses this car for work, so she keeps the back pretty loaded down all the time. I figure the rear shocks are shot, but was wondering if I should beef up the back end a little more? Since its a hatchback, I figure there is already a little more weight back there, but with all the extra weight, it seems like I should probably compensate for it a little.

I'm not looking for a performance piece, but are there any recommendations out there for an after market shock for the rear end that can handle a little more weight? Should I do something for the front as well to keep the balance? We have about 70k on the car and love it! New to the forum - so thanks in advance!

First off welcome to the Forums. Lots of info to be found here. From my days in the auto parts business, I remember that MOOG sold a product called "Cargo Coils" they are a variable rate spring set. This means that you gain cargo capacity and don't loose any ride quality or for that matter don't get all jacked up in the back. Not sure though if they still offer them but it is a place to start. Good luck.
