hardpipes

i'm not sure if ion makes a hardpipe kit. they have an fmic kit that comes with all the necessary piping. if you're just looking to replace the stock plastic stuff, i think essentialspeed has a set.

You might be better off just saving for a FMIC...if you decide to upgrade to a FMIC later on you can't use the hardpipes you just bought.

your definetly better off with a front mount, use the search and look up turbo hoses, the kit was made for stock bypass valve
but set up to be able to weld on any flange.
good luck

I like how noone has any faith at all in the stock intercooler, lmao

Well i mean take a look at it. The thing sucks.

looks a lot better than the stock eclipse one. That thing is in the tire well for goodness sakes.

That intercooler was actually just built for the turbo diesel protege over in europe, they just re-used a part they already had.

I think Equinox's point is that the HP most people will be running a new IC is unnecessary and mostly for show because with proper tunning the stock IC can withstand plenty. It would only serve as an efficiency feature keeping you from heatsoaking for longer periods of time.

I think most people just don't want to mess with the warranty and hardpipes, according to some dealerships, would be ok. Well at least that's what they've told me at one of the dealerships here in Vegas. They know about stock pipes cracking from the heat, so on and so forth.

And yes, the stock intercooler and pipes suck.

yup. :p

the stock i/c can hold at least 280hp, efficiently.
It will heatsoak, but you can make a cheap water sprayer or c02 sprayer for the track if you really must.
Add in a CAI and hardpipes raises the efficiency, since it has better airflow, and colder airflow.
Its not the best, but its fine for the stock turbo.

Oh and if you get hardpipes, it probably wouldnt be too hard to get them modified later for a FMIC kit.

If you want just one pipe with a greddy flange welded on send a PM to JDM Sam who sells this set up. He's having mine welded together right now. Should be installed and ready to scare old folks and children by the end of the weekend.

Not entirely true: Essential Speed's stuff is designed as a 2 stage system - so the hardpipes you get will work with the stock IC, then if you replace the stock IC with their FMIC the inlet and outlet match up perfectly with the new section of hardpipe for the NEW IC. Designed that way on purpose for those of use who are cash challenged. My hardpipes go on tomorrow (happen to have a flange for a turbosmart, but since they're true custom pipes I think he can put on whatever flange you want. I believe also that ION just says to leave the old IC installed and just hang a new one down below - while ES is designed to have the old one removed so the same positioning for in and out can be used. AT least that's my understanding and why I went with ES. Plus I live an hour away from them...

[Edit: ES comes standard with the HKS SSQV fully recirculated.]
