GT28RS help

I fear that there is a major problem then..

Did you stuff a rag in one of the pipes to make sure nothing got in during the install? (Then forgot about it)

nope didn't stuff anything in there and checked everything nothing was in there when i put it on the manifold, could there be a chance that the turbo is defective somehow. ordered it from ********** if theres any questions of where it was bought from

I've installed a lot of turbos,on a lot of things.never have I seen a defective new turbo.

can you do us all a favor, and run a compression test?

im heading that way but still my question is why would my bov be way different as soon as i swapped turbos? wouldn't it be just s loud even though my compression could be messed up? all i know is that i did a leak down test and nothing leaking lol. im heading to the compression test but i got a spare motor that i am gonna forge but in the mean while i wanna make sure i didn't get a defective turbo by some odd chance.

This may not be your problem. I had bought a gt28rs from a forum member here and when I put it on I noticed a much laggier boost build. I accredited it to the larger turbo. I wouldnt get 7psi until about 4.5 -5k. I tore down the mani/turbo and my wastegate wasnt seating, the actuator flapper was just jiggling in the wind. I tightened it. Now, OMFG this thing rocks. No traction for me in 1st or 2nd if I punch it. I do have crappy tires though.

see,if you brought this up here(building 4 spi@4.5+ RPM)
we could have told you right away, this is not the case here.

he is building boost at the right time it seems,if I had to say at this point,I would be searching for a boost leak.

can you get a smoke test done?
if you have a party somke machine at home, you can do it yourself.

smoke test? never heard that one but i am learning everytime. i'll double check again tomorrow on the way to work and see at what rpms i hit 10 psi. one thing also i can't figure out is i had mazda do a leak down test cuz i was burnin oil like 1 qt every 5-6 days thats why they did a leak down test. came up fine and they also said my seals and stuff where fine. i also want to know if i go about 2-3 miles down hill and i use 3rd gear to hold back so a bit easier on the brakes, i start to blow some mean smoke out of my exhaust. its like i got a james bond kinda car i can cloud out atleast 5 cars behind me lol. if i go to 4th gear it doesn't do it and i wear my brakes quite a bit.

not really. sounds way late to me

how much faster should it spool? cuz it spools to 10 psi in 1.5k rpms from 3k. should it be at 10 at like 4k or a little less?

k i am in 2nd gear at 3k rpms i stomp it and reach 10 psi at 4.5k rpms, does that sound right?
This is EXACTLY how my car built boost when my wastegate flapper was just flapping inside the exhaust housing. You may want to check that. Here is what I did. Get a long screwdriver and just "tap" the actuator arm with the end of it. If you should hear a vibration type jiggle'n sound then it's moving around and SHOULD NOT BE. I actually have a video of that somewhere let me find it.

k gonna try that right now and plz god let that be the problem

k banged the wg actuator arm and it makes like a loose spring sound. sounds like its coming from the actuator itself though. can't really pin point.

When you open the gate Manually.. With your hand. Is it easy to open and further is it closing fully. (Seating The Flap)

dunno how it supposed to feel when i pull it open manually but it feels a bit easy and the last i remembered it sealed good from the looks of it. but that was before i even put the turbo on the manifold. isn't there a way to tighten the wg without taking the whole mani and turbo off?

You cant manually open the gate with your hand with this turbo on the MSP. The actuator is on the back side turbo, under the manifold.

No, you have to take it off, or atleast I did.
