GT28RS help

yea it will actually because i changed my radiator thermostat and bottom hose that goes to the thermostat and put in the radiator fan and left the ac fan out cuz my ac line leaked all of the freon out. but my radiator fan still goes on.

my new question is that im running 10 psi on my new disco potato and for some odd reason i don't feel the power i had out of my stock turbo. why the hell is that? i am like super fricken fustrated cuz i had a s*** load of shaft play on my stocker and it pulled like 2 times harder than my new turbo the gt28rs.

Is it broken in??

The new turbo is alot bigger so it takes longer for it to spool up and at 10 psi it isnt very efficient, that turbo is good for higher boost levels.

"Alot" ??

Well. I will say that is will shift the boost threshold to 3000 for the 28... But you will not notice it that much..

Drop a gear and drop the hammer..

Here is some pics of the RS installation. Not easy, but well worth it. Man, does the car pull harder with this turbo. Much thanks to Wicked for the awesome idea with the wastegate.

Edit: I installed thos spal fans too. Wow, those things are loud and push some air! Scared me when they turned on.

Hey what manifold is that?
I really like it

i know it takes loner to spool but not much probably about like 500-1k at the most, a lot of people are running this turbo and noticed a big diff at stock psi.

lol didn't think i would have to break it in to start getting its potential. how long till it gets broken in? never read of this.

have you adjusted A/F ratios for it?are you even running a EMS?

yup running mpi. wot it hits 10's on my aem but before that i had it hitting 11's and it was a bit sluggish so i added a little more fuel. it moves more but no where near what my messed up stocker was pulling sadly.

Something is wrong then. Retune it and get it back into the 11's for starters. Which turbo is this, 64 or 86 turbine?

k back into 11's & i advanced the timing by 1 in everything using the 1x8's and a little bit more of a pull but the stocker still pulled harder.

No exhaust leaks of any sort? That turbo pushes a lot more CFM than stock, so you should be feeling a lot more pull pound for pound vs the stocker. The 86 does spool up a little slower than the 64, but once it gets going, it should be pulling real hard. Check all vac lines, charge piping, and the exhaust for leaks.

Perhaps it all in your mind.. The Lag might be making the car react very slightly slower and you might precieve it as slower..

maybe it might be all in my mind cuz i expected a lot out of it when i wanted it. But i jus recall the stocker excessive shaft play pulling my head into the seat. the 28rs kinda seems smoother in the power band. but who knows, gonna find out at the drags tomorrow. to me it seems to pick up speed faster but yet doesn't seem like its putting out the power for the boost im running. i got fed up so im boosting at 10 with a spike to 12 now. still seems like the stocker yanked harder. but yea i checked for exhaust leaks and everything couldn't find anything. but like i said if i run faster in the drags that just meant that i was exagerating on the power that the disco was gonna give. i remember reading some where on the forums that someone had their disco on 9 or 10 psi and in first gear if they punched it they would spin their tires easily while i don't get anywhere near spinning mines.

the other thing i noticed since i changed my turbo is that my hks ssqv i like 3 times softer than when i had the stock turbo in. what would that mean? i tried having it vent to atmoshpere more by adjusting the screw and it still is quiter and car stalls lol. even with the dual setup. but gonna tighten tonite cuz to much air goes out.

Ummm, You should be getting excessive wheelspin in 1st 2nd and a bit of 3rd...

That is definately a problem..

damn this disco ****** s*** is pissin me off. i have no idea what the hell is goin on. maybe defective turbo?
