GT28RS help

well one thing i know for sure is that to put the wg actuator arm on the flap on the turbo it was a real pain in the ass cuz i had it pretty high up so even putting that c clip was really hard.

as i was tryinh to get to before, if ur building boost late , check the WG it might not be tight against the port. basically when ur put the rs on caue it has to be modified u want to make sure at dle the WG is tightly closed but doesnt have preload.might want to check it out.,

ok can someone plz tell me rolling in 2nd at 3k and stompin on it at what rpms should i be reaching 10 psi at?

how do i supposed to know at idle if the wg is tightly shut, and what do you mean by preload? don't know anything about that. im in newb status on that part.(RTM)

If your running in 2nd gear at 3k you should have 10 psi by 3.5 k

if u jiggle the wg rod (not hard), it shouldnt make a noise, if u hear it jiggling then its prolly loose. basically at idle or not in boost the wg flapper should just rest against the hole, enough to keep it from leaking, if its not seating all the way, u can still build boost but its slower since its kinda open. might not be enough to mess with vac. preload would be like, if u closed the flapper all the way, then overtightened the rod (since its modded), and this would put a tension on it, so that it wont operate properly cause instead of the wg being closed and at a still position, it would be preloaded with tension and thus when it normally opens, it might still be closed cause of the tension.

so then if i have a preload on it the stock boost will become higher? cuz the wastegate won't open right?

I know i'm bringing this back from the dead but i read all 9 pages & wandering what ever happened? Did you ever get it sorted out?

i actually have a problem. im reusing the stock t25 actuator bracket just like it says and the damned thing doesnt work, I can only reuse one of the 2 bolt holes that connect the bracket to the turbo. need assistance

I used the stock bracket on mine. I don't think I have any good pics of what I did, but I will try to describe it for you. You basically want to cut 2 half circles into the outer edge of the bracket, to give the bolts on the larger housing something to grab. Just set the bracket there on the new turbo, and get an idea of where they would need to be. Cut them out, and then use some washers on the bolts to help hold down the bracket completely.

Hope this helps, I will go dig a little more for some pics and see if I can find anything that might help you visualize.

Here's a couple actually that might kinda help...

thats wierd. im using the 28rs bracket and just making another bracket to connect the first arm to a second one. like how the creator of this thread is doing

Either way works just fine. I wanted to be able to lower my boost back down to 6psi if needed, so I decided to keep the stock bracket/can rather than use the 28RS stuff.

this is odd i cannot get the sweep angle correct when using a 28rs bracket and wg. The rs opens a full 90 degrees on its sweep from open to close. i dont see how some of you people made this without the gate locking in the open position. i cannot compensate for the sweep. need help. if not im going to try the t25 bracket and wg route

i was not able to use the 28rs bracket and wastegate like the OP did. the bend in the actuator arm was opposite to wicked's wastegate actuator. i think the canister design changed. i checked atp website and my actuator matched up with theirs. anyways, kicker had the same problem and he ended up having a custom bracket made.

i ended up using the stock bracket. however, the stock replacement ATP t25 actuator was not long enough. I had to extend the t25 actuator with the adjustable piece from the stock wastegate actuator that came with the car.

yea im just modding the stock bracket and using the t25 gate now. ******* stupid i hate internal gates
