I think diesel in the US will be a while yet.
With its grunty 420nm (309 ft/lb) @ 2000 RPM, it certainly is able to put power through the tyres onto the road. Can rev up to some 5500 RPMs so it is like a rocket. Having said that it is quite happy to amble along in traffic.
I have read quite a bit about the issues many have had with the skyactive diesel engine (from the CX5) but my daily commute is 30 minutes on the freeway so minimum or no chance of stuffing up the DPF. Hence I chose diesel over the gas/petrol version. It's also providing good fuel economy - currently averaging 6.1l/100km (38.5 mpg) in mix freeway and city at the moment which is about half of my old diesel Toyota Landcruiser Prado so it's a great improvement for me.
