Hello everyone. I recently totaled my 2010 Mazda 6 (L5-VE, FoMoCo 5Spd w/od) at 199,900 miles.
I purchased a 2014 Mazda 6 Touring edition from a local vendor. I had looked for a GT model, but had a very aggressive sounding grumble and vibration from the drivetrain.
In an effort to check in on recalls, I called Mazda's care line, and they actually were able to send me the window sticker.
A factory option was the addition of remote engine start. This makes sense as the vehicle is from the hot hell of Florida.
At first, I thought that I needed to use specialized software to initialize the learning mode on the remote start unit, but then I found that this was actually not the case. Following this, I found that if I located the module itself and unplugged it and then plugged it back in, it would actually enter learning mode that way. I was able to check in on this while I was changing the cabin air filter the other day and I began to try to pair a key that I purchased second hand from an online provider.
It seems as though the key is hard locked to another vehicle, which does make sense, but I was curious so as to if anybody had any success in the past removing the keys current pairing and re-register it onto a new module.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
