Greddy Type S question

hey guys, i have a question for you all. I have an MS6 and i was planning on putting my old greddy type S on it. i ordered the flange kit with both the VTA and the recirc kit. My first question would be, before i go ripping off the factory bpv, do i need to buy a new gasket for the type S. i don't want to take off the factory bpv only to find now i need a new gasket and can't put either back on.

The second question is, are there any known problems with venting. Or does the car run like crap and need to have the fuel re-mapped. When i say issues i mean, does it stall, or just run a little rich and backfire every now and then? Currently my car is 100% bone stock. if that helps you at all.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys!

The BPV should come with a gasket if it needs one. My forge, like the OEM, doesn't need a gasket. Just a supplied O ring. Not to mention the valve is easy to remove. Takes like 5 minutes so I wouldn't worry about it.

Venting isn't smart. It will hurt the performance of your car because you are doing something its not designed for. Remapping won't really help much. I don't have the greddy so I don't know if it will stall but im sure you will get some backfires / sputte / rough idle. Not to mention BOV's don't really sound that great on our cars anyway.

I would save some cash and buy a forge or turbosmart bpv. Anyway its your call. Hope that helped.

well i have the greddy type S from my old car, my MSP. So i didn't spend anymoney on it for my speed6. yes it did come with a gasket originally, but i dont have it anymore. thats why i was aking if there is a gasket underneath the stock BPV. the flange came with an O ring, but that only covers one side of it.I guess i was wondering if the O ring side is the side the actual bov goes on, or if i should get a gasket for it. And if i should get a gasket does that mean the O ring side faces down, and the gasket goes on the top of the flange? do you know if the stock bpv has a gasket under it?

ms3 has an o-ring type gasket on the stock BPV. i also have a greddy type s and the flange didn't come with an o-ring, nor a flat gasket; i was a bit concerned but no leaks at all, confirmed with a boost gauge. so if you don't have a gasket, try without it; just be very careful tightening down the bolts because the threads on the intercooler are very soft. and yes, these engines hate VTA, i wouldn't do it, you'll hear the greddy plenty loud in recirc.

Thank you for the information brother! I appreciate it tons! I'm gonna give it a whirl tonight and see how it works! Thanks again man!

I answered that question in my original post:

"My forge, like the OEM, doesn't need a gasket. Just a supplied O ring"

Not trying to be an ass but . . .

Well I feel silly, I completely didn't notice that part in your post. Sorry bout that brother. Appreciate all the helpful info.

I just installed my Greddy TypeS bov, I have it at the hardest setting and it seems to work well with no leaks and it sounds pretty good too.

The one problem I have now is that when I was tightening the stock bolts one of the broke leaving the other half inside. How can I solve that issue, I was thinking to go back to stock and take it to the dealer and complain about a leak. hopefully they can take care of that under warranty.

So I installed my type S in full recirc. Sounds great, runs great, with one rather interesting problem. The vacuum line gets pinched by the hood. And causes it the snap right where I attach it to the bov. Any suggestions folks?

You can move the top of the valve so the vacuum line faces a different direction, the top cap is removed by removing those Allen key bolts, its pretty easy.
