Got a new Speed 3!!

i is jealous... now paint those wheels black! and get some HiDs and yellow fogs and slam it... that's what i'd do... i mean that's what i will do when i get mine....

there are a lot of people that don't understand suspension at all. people with hondas that put in front sway bars and strut bars because they think they'll run a faster time at the track.
I know a guy that did that. He insisted that a "stiffer front end" helped his traction. I tried to explain the difference between torsional stiffness and shock bound/rebound and spring stiffness, and why one helps front wheel traction under acceleration and the other doesn't. It didn't really work...

It won't help straight line traction, but it sure will help in the curves. Less body roll in the turns translates directly into better traction under throttle, especially if you have LSD to help keep it planted. For a really good example of how bad it can get without these key additions, take an old school chevy z24 without lsd on a curvy road and see what happens when you try to put the power down in the curves. Sure, the tire smoke is impressive, but it's not helping your time 1 little bit :)

Let me clarify.

He meant in a straight line, from a dig.

it'd take a while to explain and it's late...

basically, on a FWD car, you want to stiffen up the rear. stiffening the front would negatively affect anything positive that would come from adding a rear sway.

i play on getting a rear sway and rear strut/floor bar.
Thanks for explaining that man, that makes alot of sense now. I will snap some more interior pics tomarrow as well as my tinted bumper reflectors. This car is a major chick magnet by the way, all my lady friends call my car "the penguin" (black and white) I talked to Cobb today by the way and they said i HAVE to get an Accessport if i plan to get an intake which is complete BS. I think they think I am a stupid new owner that knows nothing about anything haha.

how much was the price (before TTL)? was curious if it was more than the invoice for 2008.

the MSRP was $24,455 then an extra charge for the ballin white paint and delivery charges and MSRP total was $25,325. Not sure what TTL is......sorry

A friend of a friend also said something similar. He has serious mods to his engine...(and the slip proves it) but stock brakes, stock tranny, and I'm guesing stock everything else... and he's thinking of a sway bar for his drag runs.... (headshake I'll never understand some people's deathwish.

Aaaanyways, congrats to the new owner, I'm sure you'll have a seriously good time with your car!! (first)

Ok some one help... I just contacted Mazda and my dealer. Both say there is no release of an 09 mazda3 yet let alone the mazdaspeed3. There truthfully was no listing for the 08.5. It got labelled that because of the feature changes (piano black and alcantarra and seat insert changes). If someone has other info I need it, I would like to buy one but only if it truly is an 09.

My dealers is saying that the 09s will be hitting their lot in about 2 months.
hmmm...any interior changes in your 09 at all?

Here are some more pictures of the interior/tinted reflectors. I dont think they changed anything from 2008.5 to 09. Just the seude seat inserts, white gauge needles etc.

dude, did your reflectors come tinted like that??? (rockon)

Yeah its a legit 2009, this was one of the two on the lot in Salt Lake. By the way, how do you like your Cobb rear sway bar? I was thinking about going down to their shop (in Salt Lake) and looking into a short throw and sway bars, then intake when its broken in.

Sorry for the delayed response. I like the Cobb RSB. I used the "soft" setting (50% stiffer than stock). The car feels more planted in hard, fast esses. Haven't been able to get an interstate ramp that isn't clogged with white-knuckled candy-asses, so the long sweeper hasn't been tried yet. (sad2) It appears there is no difference between 2008 1/2 and 2009, interior-wise. Yours looks like mine. Great choice on the color. Everyone knows the CWP is faster and has better grip.

I hate being behind candy asses haha. Good to hear you like that sway bar, i think I am going down to Cobb tomarrow to pick mine up. I think I will install it myself, it's pretty easy isint it?

same s*** they didnt change anything

Actually my vanity mirrors have lights...........its a must, haha just kidding man.

Anyways, i got a new present for my Speed 3 today, went down to Cobb and picked up a rear sway bar.

Took about 25 minutes to install, very easy. Then i took her on a midnight date to this road called White Pine canyon Road. They just re-paved it. over 50 switchbacks with mad elevation change and all labeled with reflective arrows and speed markers. Acutally saw a Ferrari F430 up there doing the same thing I was.

The sway bar is amazing, it had me giggling like a little girl around some of those hairpins. By the way, Cobb Tuning is selling their Nissan GT-R for $85K if anyone is interested, 505whp haha. Thanks for reading.

That looks like so much fun, I wish IL had some nice curvy roads to go cruisin on, the only thing we got is straightways and corn.
