MS3
Well, I finally did it. I traded in the ol' P5 for a brand new MS3. The P5 was a great car, and it will be missed.... but holy crap the mazdaspeed is fun.

I had 61,000 miles on it, and wanted to trade it in before I did the 60k mile maintenance. I'm sure the car was in good health, but I knew I was going to trade it in soon anyways, so I didn't want to spend the money on maintenance.

Here's how she looked when i first got her over two years ago.

Here's her spiritual successor. One blue mazda wagon to another. I couldn't be happier about the jump.

I'll still be lurking in this section, as I still love seeing gorgeous P5's. Best of luck.

I worship you!

The MazdaSpeed 3 is an absolute beautiful car. Consider yourself one lucky guy!!

I wish I was making this topic...

I stopped by the dealership and got the brochure the other day.

280 ft lbs of torque is out of control. The MS3 is such a little badass.

Congrats, dude. Know that you are envied.

...Not that I don't love P5's... but that much raw power right off the showroom floor/with a warranty?? Amazing.

Just wondering, how much did they give you for your P5? I'm thinking about trading mine in too if I can get a decent chunk of change for it. Did they make you go back to stock?

Good question...subbing for answer.

Congrats on the new ride...

+1 !!!

I test drove one of these the other day. I came up on a Cobalt SS on the highway and he made the terrible mistake of dropping some gears and punching it. This car embarrassed him stupid. The sales guy (some kid) said they did not let him drive the MS3s. I pulled over and he drove it like it was stolen. (maybe that’s why lol) I am still under intense negotiations with the wife on getting one of these.
You know I have a long way to go when I hear, "whats wrong with your car? (P5) I thought you liked it? Why do you want to buy this one? Its just another wagon right?". Uh.... any professional negotiators out there?

Tell her that there is something wrong with your car(help) and you want to get rid of it before it becomes a bigger issue. If she asks what it just tell her its the flux compasitor and its expensive to fix

Don't insult her intelligence. Anyone who's watched Back to the Future knows what a flux capacitor is. If you have the money for it then just tell her you want it because it is fun. What can she say? It's all right to be a little whipped but not when it comes to buying an MS3..LOL. I had to talk my husband into it a little bit when I bought mine since I had bought the last "new" car but once he drove it he was sold. And he's perfectly happy with his car. Let her drive one and she'll understand.

Yeah, once you get it in your head you want a MS3, there's no getting rid of it (at least for me). It doesn't matter what you tell your wife, the point is... buy one.

Oh, BTW, they sold my P5 within 3 days of me trading it in! Thats a quick sale if you ask me, I don't even think they have the title yet. It still had my rims, SS, and air intake when I traded it in. I wonder if they kept those on. I did remove the exhaust and stereo. Sounds like they are having bad luck, first it turns out my wheel lock key was not in the glove box where it should be. I looked around at home but I don't see it... must be the last mechanic didn't put it back when I had work done. Then they called me to ask if I had a spare key (which I don't). Their mechanic lost my key! I have no idea how they are selling my car with no access to taking off the wheels, and with no key.

Oh well, I'm glad I sold it before I had to take off the wheels again to realize that nasty surprise.

Here's my newest picture (I feel like a father of a new-born who wants to show everyone baby pictures... bare with me)
