Goodbye P5, hello MS3

Waiting for answer on how much they gave you (trade-in) for the P5.

Whoops, yeah... I got $6,300. I was hoping for 7k, but I'm not sure how realistic that is for my car. Blue book said 7.5K if my car was in EXCELLENT condition. Honestly, it was starting to show its age cosmetically. Pretty much every panel was damaged in some way (chips, scratches, dings). Nothing major, but they add up. It had 61,300 miles on it, and it was a 2002. They originally offered me $5,300... which I told them no and was about to walk away. She was due for a 60k maintenance, so I decided it was a good time to trade in.

What do you think? I at least got $2,300 more than I owed.

On unrelated note, I have a friend (not a very smart financially guy) who just traded in his RX8 (2005 w/ 30k miles) and got 10k for it. Sounds ok, but he owed 18k for the car. (uhm) Not sure what the hell he is thinking.

I thought about one as well when it was time to sell my P5. Did I like it, sure. Was I personally in love, no. My desire was always with the RX-8. The practical side of me kept calling for the MS3 though. It's an excellent choice.

Your friend with the 8 is not that smart I take it? Even with a base model you can get more than that. Maybe not much, but that's a huge difference.

Oh, my decision for that 8 was also the price. A 2004 fully loaded GT package minus the navigation with 35K miles and in very mint condition. Got her for $17,500 plus my P5 trade in.

Enjoy the MS3. Make sure the motor mounts are good.

I like the idea of the MS3, but i'm not sure i'd be able to trade in teh P5 just yet...Still so much I want to do to it, and it still runs like a dream. I owe more then I would get too, which is a big part.

Liking the MS3, but still too much in love with the P5!

And as far as the RX-8 goes, your friend should have sold it to me, I'd have GLADLY given 10,000 for that car!

I love the P5 red, but true red on MS3's is WAY too bright for me. It looks good but in person its just too much for my tastes. Honestly MS3 colors are kinda whack, but I really do enjoy the cosmic blue. I can understand that a lot of people wouldn't like it, but its beautiful to me.
