goodbye mp3 RIP.

i don't see any way that mazda would offer to cover the cost of that engine. you had the XS boost controller set at six and never once changed it, never once raised it? did you install the kit yourself? you didn't have more than 7,000 miles on it if I remember right.

keith, you don't think it simply be a matter of the ping resulting from the ecu's timing advance?

they are sending a mazda rep out to look at the car and determine wether or not they will pick up the cost of the engine replacement. keeping my fingers crossed. i am solely a honda man again i will never trust another company with forced induction.

LOL

you arent a honda man. youre a "whatever your dad buys next" man

It could be from massive detonation due to a lack of fuel pressure, low octane gasoline, other modifications that haven't been mentioned, all sorts of things. Some people don't bother installing everything that is included in our kits for some reason. Others never bother to tune them. That's why I'm trying to determine what might have caused the problem but I'm not getting answers. So right now I'm assuming nothing.

well see i planned on doing fuel managment and internals to raise the boost the boost controller just happened to be at the right price so i bought it and had installed figuring that in a couple of weeks i would be able to use it. everything was working fine on the turbo though. 2 weeks ago i brought it in for a knocking noise thought it was a ticky lifter or something, but they said they couldnt hear anything and then two weeks later the engine is destroyed thats why i think mazda may cover it. and keith it was done by a very reputable shop who spent days on end working on this and tuning it right i think my engine was just a dud. i had the car in a month ago to check compression and have a basic tune up and everything checked out fine s*** happens i guess. and i repeat i did not do anything to try and get more performance out of the turbo no hidden upgrades nothing! i dont know what happened. i am by no means putting your kit down s*** i swear you guys probably have the safest running turbo kit aroung for proteges and ill tell other people that too i just think that i had problems pre boost thats all. and dexter layoff man not my fault my parents are suscessful busniness people that make money i am so tired of hearing that s*** it makes me sick! that somone could actually care that much about somebody elses financial status, so my parents may have a little money but is that my fault and why do you care what they do with there money you dont even know us.

What's the name of the shop? I'd be interested in talking to them.

supierior racing deveopment in phoenix az heres there web site superiorracingdevelopment.com you can get there phone number on there and the owners names are joe and mike i havent told them about my car yet so they will prob. be suprised.
thanks kyle nelson

it was at an idle that i heard the sound but my exhaust is so freaking loud i wouldnt hear anything a wot either.
thnaks kyle nelson

Well......

If your motor is in the shape you said it is in,the pistons being in pieces and all, then your turbo is probably TRASHED!
Hence you no longer have a turbo kit for sale.
If any tiny little piece of piston went through the turbo then it prob tore up the turbine wheel.
I know this from first hand experience on my MSP.I only had a piece of metal smaller than a BB go through the turbo and trash it along with the ENTIRE motor.
Sorry to rain on your parade about the turbo kit and I hope all of this works out for you.
Matt:)

That sucks...

Is it possible for you to get pics when they open the motor?

actually forcefed all of the parts including the turbine are fine they have dissasembled most all of it now and it is all in great shape.

After talking to Superior, there's nothing in the install that sounds fishy except the boost controller. It was set at 6 psi when it left their shop, but why install a controller if you're not going to jack the boost?

What octane of fuel did you run, by the way?

Keith

Didn't you used to have something crazy like 14.5psi or something in your sig? and 9psi daily? You claimed it was a joke, but who knows.

Jeremy's (portcitymp3) BEGI kit is the only unmodified fm kit that I know of that blew a motor. But he had numorous problems with valves and such on the motor, things that had nothing to do with the kit itself.

Something was obviously wrong with your motor prior to boosting it. 6psi with proper fuel should cause no problems with this car.

yeah i did have that but it as a joke between me and my freind rhett some dude was claiming to be running like 14.5 on a stock msp for like a year and no problems so we were knd o f mocking him i am not really that stupid trust me.

i also explained why i put the boost controller in a pror post. but i say it again. i bought and installed the boost controller first because i got it for like 100.00$ wich is awesome for a dual stage boost controller so i bought and then istalled it through srd because i had bought injectors and an ignition that were supposed to be installed the same day that didnt end up working out so then i was left with just the boost controller thinking that in a couple of weeks that i would be able to run higher boost i planned on buying the simple digital injector controller to have more fuel but then my car blew up and there is no need.
thanks kyle nelson

Yea, im just going to guess there was something wrong with your motor from the biggining, like jeremy's. But your problems never serfaced.

Did you ever hear any pinging or knock?

How about that thread where you mentioned your exhaust backfired and blew a hole in you JIC canister/muffler. Could this be a sign of a problem? Keith??
