Good Bass?

My first car cost $1200. Why would someone spend that on bass alone?

Poseur does have a point. If you are showing off your system in the highschool parking lot it will only be a matter of days before your car is broken into and the gear is gone.

If you want lots of bass get 2 12w7's a JL1000/1 and walaah it will be so much bass you can't stand it. I also have one of my customers that wants to sell 2 12w7's and a JL1000/1 for 1500 bucks. When I see him this week or so I will put it in the for sell thread with all of the proper info based on the forum rules.(This is just a heads up on a sale not a for sale attempt moderators thanks) Tweeter is also doing FREE I SAY FREE install with all jbl products for the month of June.

im not paying in the 1,000's lol sorry, would a 15 fit in the trunk? and yea i just want somethin in the back to give me a big bang.

i am likeing the packages a lot and i am really considering them. Most of the people at my school have like 2 12''s so i mean and one hits pretty hard. very hard at that. i think they are MTX im not sure.

if you just want a single sub that is rediculously loud then make sure you get someone experienced to build the box for your car

you can build a box design that would make the car unbearably loud at the expense of sound quality

if it were me i would get my usual recommendation:)

crazy xmax and SQ for the price

any decent brand amp will do. i bought a 1000x1 Kenwood amp from here a while back for $125 shipped and recently i bought a 400x2 Quart amp for $200 shipped

you are in high school and you know you are going to want to show off your system so i would suggest installing the amp under a seat and not on the sub box. also use mounting screws that take a special bit like square or security hex to make it much harder to steal. also bolt down the box from the inside before installing the sub and then use the same security screws(or maybe even a different type) to mount the sub woofer making the sub harder to steal

it isnt fool proof, but it will help protect from any random high school thief from getting your s*** as not many carry around a set of special bits

ok...humm yea that is a goood idea i woulda never thought of that, i will have to tell my friends that also.

well dont tell too many people cause if they know the bit they need it just made stealing your s*** easy again;)

If there is a tweeter near by ask them about the JBLSUBPKG. Price is 279.99 This package comes with a sub amp, sub enclosure, and two 12'' subs. it should sound preety good.

Well here is what I see if you are getting one of those and will not be persuaded(personally wouldn't buy polk and don't know anything about visonik...which isn't a good thing). Your spending money on a 2 subs and an enclosure. The visonik has 2x300w RMS subs for $150 versus $300 for 2x375w RMS. As far as bang for your buck visonik is showing a better buy(from what I see). Just remember you will need an amp...I would suggest somthing but if you want power&cosmetics or quality&affordability your going to end up in two different territories I would believe.

Surprisingly a lot of the reviews have people saying they have the visonik working great with mono amps that are 720 even 800 watts(they could possibly be newbs talking RMS max I don't know). Just an observation..

Just explaining what your considering if you didn't know already(it helped myself understand when others did that for me).

Edit: Honestly, go with the visonik now that I think of it...for $150 it will be a good learning experience and not cost you a lot, just get a good 600x1w RMS amp from crutchfield...a wiring kit, and have fun.

I've never heard anything (good or bad) about Visonik...which means they aren't worth talking about. I would stay away from bandpass boxes with nifty ports and plexiglass windows. They look nice but rarely sound nice.

The Polk box looks halfway decent but you also need a 750w RMS amp for it which will bring its cost well over the price of the package deals I posted. The Polk box is ported...which is fine...but that port is very small for a pair of 12"s. I'm guessing it is tuned pretty high and won't belt out sub 30Hz bass lines like a sealed box with the same subs in it. It will also create alot of port noise.

Stick with sealed enclosures. They are simple and play real low.

ok i think i am goin to go with the ALpine system...the 600 wt one that is...i think that is the one i will get my good system for my money! what do yall think about it?

I know this is old but i would suggest going to your local car stereo shop. A reputable one that has been in business awhile. do this while your young and just getting the bug and i promise in the long run you will get all your equiptment at cost. Ive been dealing with same shop for over 20 years and they do me right. I was reading a post about the jl 500/1 amps from a couple of months back that stated the price of that amp at about 550(i know they sell em all day long for 550 cause ive seen it) and I just picked it up for 4 bills. Dont get me wrong Ive spent alot of money with these guys over the years but thats the point. No matter what you do in life it always helps to have friends(even if ya had to buy em). hehehe. go for the good stuff and get a jl w6 in the prebuilt highoutput box with a good 600 watt amp from say alpine or jl or phoenix gold. This will set you back about 800 to 1000(depending on which size sub you choose and which amp) but youll save in the long run because youll be something that most people usually are not when it comes to car audio purchases(The ones that shop at cc or online),Yes you got it youll be satisfied. And youll have piece of mind(A warranty). Pss there are other awsome brands out there so im not knocking any others brand preference.Just from my 20 years experience you cant beat jl subs for all around sub duties.

My setup was under $500. If you don't like the generic Audiobahn amp, you could always find one that you like with about the same specs. It's a Class D Mono Block puting out 600W RMS @ 2ohms. Bridge that between two 300W RMS subs and you'll have a nice little setup for a low price. I got the amp for $176 shipped, brand new off eBay and the two subs from Circuit City when they had the buy 2 get a free box. Came to around $226 after tax. That's only $402 with the amp. I picked up a Sony stereo from Wal-Mart that was $160 but the box was damaged so I got it for only $60. Then I got a cheap 4 gauge wiring kit for $30. All together that's only $492... good for 140db :D
