Going CrAzY!!!

Hey Wastegate, what springs do you have? I love the look of your drop.

I am on BC coilovers. Drop is 1 5/16" in the front and 5/16" in the rear currently. Whenever I stop being lazy and can get a hold of a fender roller it will come down about another 1/4 inch all around.

anyone ever read up on Dee Karagiannis mazdaspeed 3? RWD convert that runs 7's......... need to get his tuning solution, you think?

You have got to be kidding me.

About the only thing that car shares with ours is that it has 4 wheels and a Mazda symbol on it.

i kid you not:
Some of the biggest news for Mazda fans came from Modified competitor Demetrios "Dee" Karagiannis' announcement of a new MAZDASPEED3 drag program. The Karagiannis Racing MAZDASPEED3 is already under development and is expected to be finished in time for the season opener. Featuring a RWD race configuration, the highly modified drag car will still run motivation based on the MAZDASPEED3 road car's 2.3L MAZDA DISI four-cylinder engine - though modified and turbocharged to well over 1,000 hp in its race application. In making the switch to the Mazda-supported MAZDASPEED3 program, Karagiannis is retiring the team's venerable Mazda RX-7. Behind the wheel of the turbocharged RX-7, Karagiannis ended the 2006 season near the top of the Modified Category championship with two final rounds and one victory to his credit.

Wow.

You completely missed my point there. It may have an engine that is based off of the same specs as ours but I can assure you that there is nothing about that car similar to ours except that it has 4 wheels.

Here is a walk around video of the car. I don't know about your MS3 but mine sure as hell isn't a tube framed, fiberglass bodied RWD car with a shortened Ford 9 inch.

if you have $12k to play with why don't you just get a liter bike and forget about upgrading the car.

That's a good idea... just get a CBR1000RR or a well... let's face it I know nothing about bikes. Or get a fixer-up'er like a classic muscle car or an older tuner car like an FD RX7 or a 300ZX, then put your time into that... It seems like you have a nice enough MS3, don't just chuck 12k into it and make it undrivable on the road.
... take a look at this: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detai...ional&paId=306488990&recnum=1&leadExists=true

there is no doubt in my mind it is no longer anywere near a street 3, but the point of the post was to show that the 2.3 DISI can be made to have power, everyone who's blown one up or gets to 350whp and cant get further always ends up parting and selling and calling it a peice of s***, hence a post of this thread that has been deleted since the Op's posting about how he shouldn't mod because he will just blow it up and waste his money. my point wasn't to show anything regarding whats been done to it, the point of it was to show it has the same motor that you drive on each day, modified or not.

dude im not here to argue with you about the car, im here to make the point that with enough work the motor can get to what people want it, it jsut takes time and money

I've been saying for months and months now that if people are dead set on making 400+whp out of this car, swap a PI 2.3 head onto it, piece together a fuel system and run a standalone. The DISI motor and this ECU are uncharted territory and you either need to be extremely patient and wait for companies to figure everything out or go with what is proven and make it happen.

I didn't buy this car to make another drag car and I'm more than happy with how my car performs with very minimal mods, intake BPV and catless midpipe.

and i agree with you bro, the car performs awesome even stock, it doesn't need much as a street car. My post was to show the OP that if he wants to spend his money investing to get to the power he wants, by all means go for it. But people shouldn't discourage him because they were dumb and pushed too far.

i myself am trying to be patient and wait for the solution, some of the upcoming products from small/private vendors are starting to look promising. It will just take some testing and time to figure it out.

alot of people say that fwd will never be able to keep with RWD and AWD, and yes in a way i agree, but to me i like the underdog idea. I wanna get my FWD to surpass and AWD or RWD. Hell you can have your launch buddy, but after that 4 or 5 second if you feeling good i wanna rip you a new one. im not going for a straight drag, mostly a street sleeper.

but we digress as we always do on this forum :)

to the OP: start small and build up, give it time and then go big.

You come up against the right car and you will never catch up. Just ask all the FWD guys around here that thought they'd run down my old car. (cabpatch)

lol yea my buddy is building a 3rd gen talon ATM, GT45R on fully built internals. I'm gonna wait and see it to believe how fast its suppose to be, but he left it as sleeper as he could.

also know a guy building a 4g and putting it in a Starion. Seem like an intresting project

i used to have a 1st gen TSI FWD, this was a peice of fail though, couldn't keep it running and i got screwed on a motor build i got a guy to do and ended up selling it

Just to clear up, Talons were only produced in 2 generations. The 90-94 cars and then the 95-98 cars.

I had a 95 GSX, a lot of stock parts and a very conservative setup by DSM standards. Made 435awhp and ran 11.68@123.

right, i forgot the dif headlight style was technically the same gen just a change. I had the flipup headlight style, he has a couple non flip style and his last gen i guess we could call it

yea my ms3 is the first car i actually tried to mod to a decent power, my mustang GT was a joke of a v8. no fast 1/4 mile times here

im trying to get my brother to do a RB25 or RB26 swap into his dodge conquest.

i think i may be making progress ha

saw a guy at the track tonight with a Starion that has a 2JZ and he said he would charge $2500 to fab a RB into the Conquest

Leave your MS3 stock, buy and early 90's Miata and throw some wheels, tires and coilovers on it and call it a day.
