GI for 3" turbo back exhaust

i would like to see more arguments b/t ion's product & ES's. believe it or not, when they argue and stuff, i get a good feel of pros and cons, so... by all means, ion, step up and keep talking... i jus wish someone from ES would post here too.

InsidiousMSP - to clarify a few things FYI, our 1-piece integrated s-pipe/down-pipe is NOT CAST. It is an equal-tuned length design with merge collector. Our stainless muffler section is lighter then even the HKS CF-Ti muffler, and in most cases lighter then knock-off "N1" type Titanium mufflers.

As for the CAI, you're missing one LARGE part of the equation to which why ours does make more power. It's not just in the piping ;)
If it's not cast why do you keep referring to it as a casted s-pipe/downpipe then?

By the way, attached is a dyno of my car with just a short-ram intake. Beat ya. (nana)

InsidiousMSP - You may have mis-read something. Our 1-piece integrated down-pipe replaces the stock cast S-pipe & "down-pipe". Our 1-piece integrated s-pipe/down-pipe is an equal-tuned length designed with a merge collector. Designed to extract maximum volume without causing boost creep.

what is you one piece s-pipe made out of?

DZnutz - The one-piece integrated s-pipe/downpipe is made out of both tight radius mandrel bent 16 gauge T304 & hydroformed 16 gauge 304. Flanges are 1/2" & 3/8" thick T304SS as well. All hand tig welded.

Ok I have just updated the option pricing on the first sheet.

options:
-carbon fiber > 120 cdn
-titanium muffler > 150 cdn
- if you want the cat removed your system will be 100cdn less

im thinking bout this and posts i've read previously bout 3in vs 2.5in never got finished... only that 3" would have good high end, and 2.5 would be ideal for low end? cud someone explain 3 vs 2.5 to a noob? sorry for off topic

on a turbo car bigger is better... thats all, your thinking of an naturally aspirated situation where a 2.5 will not yield as much top end power as a 3" but it will keep some more down low torque

skilletrx -for forced induction a properly designed 3" system for the MSP will not loose any low-end torque compared to that of the stock system or a 2.5" system. It will promote minimal turbo lag and maximum flow.

iON's right. The less backpressure the better for turbocharged vehicles. Realistically though, if you are going to push no more than 10psi, then it is more cost effective to buy 2.5" piping because the difference in size at that little boost is neglegible.

maybe es can get u guys an exhuast faster then ion can, ive payed 1024.00$ in nov. 03 and i still dont have mine! sent back a piece that was made wrong and did not fit 3 weeks ago and have not heard anything back from ion! u guys be the judge. jack - whats up with my cat sec. u dont even e-mail me to keep me updated? if u cant fix it just sent it back and i will do what i can to get it to work. jose

jrod1019-FYI the flange that bolts onto the stock spherical gasket is rotatable/moveable. All we had to do was to reclock the angle of the flange in two axis' to fit onto the casted "down-pipe" by tapping the flange with a rubber mallet (you'll have to just get slightly longer bolts to bolt up the two sides). We've scheduled a bone stock MSP to come into the shop within the next week so that we can do a final test fit before it gets sent back out to you. The hangers were in the correct location when we put the cat section on the jig.

ck your jig then!! if the hangers are in the right spot, then the front of the cat sec. is to short! because if i butt the front up then the rear sec that goes to the right before it goes over the axle is going to hit. and as far as getting longer bolts, how the hell can u sell an exhuast system for 1024.00$ and tell me i need to buy somthing else to get it to fit? how much more would it of been for a bolt on system that fit the first time with out having to wait 3/4 of a year. plus im still short one 3'' gasket which you can send when u ship back my cat sec. and now i gess you are not going to go to the 3 bolt flange like u said, and it should of been in the first
place. oh well if it sounds like im pissed and disgusted-.... i am! jose. P.S. if this takes much longer i can send back the rest of the exhuast and u can refund me my money, u got a new group buy going and those people want an exhuast.

jrod1019 - the jig is correct, as other pieces built on the same one fit. As mentioned, we're going to do another test fit to make sure everything is cosher before it gets sent back. In regards to the slightly longer bolts, this is so you don't have to deal with fitting your stock spring bolts. You could use those if you desire, you'll just need to put tension on the two sections to compress the spring. The 3 bolt flange will not work in that position with a flex pipe, as the stresses would eventually break the flex pipe or break a weld. As mentioned before, your down-pipe back version was a one-off, as well you were the only person with it and we still honored the pre-sale price for you.

Today ES hosted a car meet for the toprotege.com club, I think there was close to 50 proteges that showed up + some other cars, It was a great day. All I have to say is that the ES work looks great, they did not have the full turbo back system on their car yet but I did see the midpipe that they had and it was great. They also had an RX8 there that they had a 3" system on and damn that thing was sweet.

Their MSP is looking quite sweet, they had it ripped apart putting an emanage, a GT28RS and the exhaust in it this - next week. They also had a customer car there that they are putting an emanage and GT30R I think he said in there.

Kevin is a great guy I can't wait to get this damn system in my car :) we should have more info very shortly and then we can start a GB once I get the pics.
