GI : Big Brake Upgrade

because you have a FWD car....which means more break power is required in the front.......rear brakes are basiclly useless.....it would be pointless to have BIG BRAKE kit on all 4 wheels for the P5.....or any protege.....

its pointless on any FWD car......thats y most people that have big brake kit on all tires get laughed at.....cuzz its pointless unless you have AWD......

stupid in my opinion.....waste of money.....

Not trying to cloud your thread Andy... but this is incorrect...and the thread, otherwise, is very full of good info for people new to brakes...

There is absolutely no difference on the drivetrain layout for a car and its braking needs...the suspension determines all of that...So saying only an AWD car needs large brakes front and rear is completely wrong...It is true that with physics weight shifts to the front of the vehicle during decceleration, and therefor needs more braking torque in front...but in racing you need large rear brakes also for cooling and brake balancing for cornering (F1 cars are able to turn front brakes off for mid corner braking to prevent "plowing"...and the crazy part is that they have only 10.5" ceramic rotors front and rear)...

So I am not trying to be a dick...I have never heard of anyone laughing at someone with huge brakes front and rear...and in our case it is for the most part true that you do not need larger rear brakes...and this upgrade will help a lot with brake fade and straightline stopping power...

carry on...

Twilight's brakes stop the car very fast without knocking on the ABS, it's amazing, I just don't get it...

Very Interested.
Quick Question...Do the Rotors have to come slotted? Could they perhaps be crossdrilled instead? Or Plain?

they only come in slotted (best option anyway imo)

guys just waiting on a price from the ppl making the hats and i'll post it up. hopefully wont be long (they are dragging their feet unfortunately)

the guy who'll be making the hats up for us is on holidays. hopefully he'll be back soon and well have a firm price for yawl!

Sounds good. When do you think he may be back?

no idea. typical really. i was just about ready to do all the measurements of the extra's that are required to make the kit work but he's away so i am not going to waste my time doing a real lot of work with the extra bit measuring (requires car off the road for a good time as i have limited time at the moment) when he could come back with a nasty price and the kit is then out of everyones league.

We've given up on the original machinest because he's taking too long getting back to us. So I've sent some CAD designs to a new guy to see if he can come through with the goods in a timely manner. It seems fitters and turners always have too much work on...

Cheers,
Gav.
